I didnt spot this thread until after I posted my own, sorry. I am finding it infuriating as well!!! 🤬

To cap it all, the massive advert at the top is now for an adblocker!!! You do wonder about these things...... 😩

Alec.

I have just checked up on the "free" total add blocker for Microsoft edge and the reviews say "stay away" citing pushy messages to upgrade to a paid version etc.  So I'll pass on that.  This is the only place I have this problem so if it continues I will just not be coming back, so unnecessary !

Hopefully personal details are still safe on here !

Depending on what browser you use, I have Adblock Plus and AdBlocker Ultimate (free versions) for Firefox and I have no issue with pop-up ads here whatsoever.

These extensions are probably available for Chrome and Edge too.

I have been considering dumping Edge for Firefox and have installed it ready.  Just uneasy about making the move, don't know why....

If it helps to stop this carry-on then maybe this is the push I needed. Maybe.

I've been using Firefox for as long as I have been on the internet & have avoided the Microsoft browsers. I have no problems & with AdBlock Plus was not aware there there was a problem until this thread started.

Same for me. Firefox is my standard browser, sometimes I use Chrome but I've never used Edge really so i don't know how that one is.

Just import all your settings & passwords from Edge and give it a go :)

Same complaints here in Belgium. HMVF is now littered with publicity banners left, right, top, bottom and in-between posts as well. I'm using Safari, but just gave it a try on Chrome, and it's the same.

Now I'm getting this detritus on my android phone, so that is goodbye to keeping up to date on the phone. I'll just visit here less frequently & only use the PC or laptop with AdBlocker Plus from now on.

Something has happened in the last 48 hours or so which has made the forum unusable due to the intrusive advertisements in my view. I've changed nothing in my browsing environment so presume that it is the site that has changed.

Perhaps a moderator could comment?

The ads are really annoying and potentially will drive people away. Things like this can kill a forum -I’ve seen it happen before.

So just what has changed to allow the ads?. It was never like this before. Is it the forum software that has been tweaked to include adverts or has something else changed?

£ free / almost free lunch gone  ?    Gold plated Youtube is  £15 p.c.m.  to escape ads.  -  not that I use it to any note.

btw  don't cluch on any of these ads.  your phone/puter will get some sort of VD that the same specialists charge £50 to get rid of.
