Ron
Good to hear from you Steve. Jason should be able to sort out your chain links. https://the-chain-man.co.uk/ Ron

Cheers, Lex Lex. That doesn’t sound good. Nothings been easy with this build, a few more hurdles won’t hurt, I have it fitting in no time 😉

flyingfleasteve
Ok so the exhaust clamp has received some TLC and now fits like a glove, a quick lick of paint and it’s ready to fit. The rocker cover is now finally on so I just need to time the engine and it’s ready! Now back to the petrol tank………
welbike
Nicely done Steve! they were cad plated originally, and there is a cheesehead screw to keep it tight, not the best idea, but that's what they used. Lex
Ron
Lets find a place that gets severe heat and liable to corrosion and hold it on with a slot head screw🤡 Ron
flyingfleasteve
I know Ron……🤔 I don’t need to worry, I won’t be starting it…..it’s only to sit and look at 😂

flyingfleasteve
Thanks Gents. I must say I am pleased with how the bike is turning out, Lex I think several of the parts on this bike came from you 😉 Dare I say it really just the tank and electrics left 🤗 The tank is taking up far more time than I anticipated but I want to get it right……
flyingfleasteve
Chaps whilst I remember what is the correct petrol tap for this bike, Im of the impression it’s a singular CMC with balancer pipe but I cannot for the life of me find a picture of one? Ron
Steve this is the correct original set up. It's a bit daft really and is usually converted to the more sensible twin tap system. I converted mine back to the ex factory type out of pure stubbornness. Ron
flyingfleasteve
This is perfect! Thanks Ron!
flyingfleasteve
The fuel tank is slowly coming right, lots of little dents and imperfections remedied but still a small amount of ‘character’ left. It’s definitely had several knocks and scrapes in its existence. The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the light switch hole within the instrument panel has been cut bigger at some point but fingers crossed I have a solution to that.
Ron
That looks OK Steve. I'll be interested to see how you re-work the missing raised flange for the switch. I'd be trying to think of ways myself if I had that problem. Ron
flyingfleasteve
Il keep you posted Ron 😉 I am just about to give the fuel tank the vinegar treatment before applying the finishing top coat. Whilst I wait for it I thought I would turn my attention to the rear light. Undoubtedly one of the hardest things to find was the original MT210 rear lamp. Although not in the best of shape it’s all original. Some of the internal bulb contacts are missing so I am going to sympathetically convert it to accept a twin filament bulb. So currently it’s been prepared and clean up with fresh paint applied…….
welbike
Nice work Steve, but a couple of comments, I think the MT210 should be KG No.3. The water deflector needs a bit of trimming on the underside, or it will cut your wiring, or interfere with the carb or something, see picture. The raised hole for the switch, I made one once with just two steel rings of the right diameter, popped in the vice, with some sheet metal inbetween, and presto! then weld carefully in the dash hole, you might want to enlarge that a bit, makes it easier. Keep on the good work, Lex Edited September 8, 2021 by welbike spelling
Ron
Quite right Lex! I just checked in the parts list and will have to get the paint pot out again. Doh! Ron
flyingfleasteve
Thanks Gent! That’s a bugger, the tail lamp was nearly finished 🙈

welbike
Suspenders "and a bra??" anyway didn't want to spoil your day, but I noticed your Welbike pump is one from a stove, should be steel with brass handle. Sorry, Lex
Ron
Well if I remember correctly Lex, it came from you via the Jeep guy in Kent (Dick ?) who died, that was selling your tanks etc. So you owe me the correct one.
