  1. 3 Troop 23 Scorpion 02 FD 92 Confirmed. Scorpion / Sabre. In USA. 23A Scorpion 03 FD 38 Confirmed. At Eden Camp. 23B Scimitar 06 FD 06 Confirmed. At Eden Camp. 23C Scimitar 06 FD 97 Confirmed. At Eden Camp. 4 Troop 24 Scorpion 02 FD 76 Confirmed. Scorpion / Sabre. Part owned by barrynevuk, Middlesex. 24A Scorpion 03 FD 20 (?) information found by Charlie2356 on Facebook suggests it is 03 FD 20, no picture of rear of the vehicle during the period located. Merlin reads Withams in Nov 2011. 24B Scimitar 06 FD 94 Confirmed by Charlie2356 Current status unknown. Merlin reads Withams Jan 2012. 24C Scimitar 05 FD 77 Confirmed by Charlie2356 Current status unknown. Merlin reads Withams in Nov 2011. REME 28 Samson 00 GM 45 Confirmed. Current status unknown. Merlin reads Withams in August 2013 but then RHG/D LAD so the question still begs if she was taken back into service or cast. Maybe an FOI request could sort this one out.
  2. 24A is apparently 03 FD 20 (Paul Stretton on FB) And that they said, was that.
  3. These photos (Posted by Kevin Lambert on FB) confirm that 24B is 06 FD 94 and also show that 24C is actually 05 FD 77. One more vehicle to go… (24A)
  4. 23A (03 FD 38) and 23C (06 FD 97) looking good.
  5. I can have a look, BL775s had a very high failure rate in the Falklands because they were dropped so low to the ground and the parachute did not deploy in time.
  6. Both these chinooks went to the Falklands... One was destroyed (AE 521) and the other was taken back to the UK for RAF service (AE 520) The destruction was apparently due to cannon fire, a 30mm gun run by a Harrier FRS1 and then finally finished off with a BL775 by a different Harrier.
  7. Revised list number 900000. We are very close to a complete list now. 3 Troop 23 Scorpion 02 FD 92 Confirmed. Scorpion / Sabre Charlie2356 confirms that in the Haynes CVR(T) book 02 FD 92 is identified as an ex Falklands Scorpion, although it does not confirm the call sign. But, as 23A is 03 FD 38, 24 is 02 FD 76, and 24A has a VRN starting 03 FD, by process of elimination 02 FD 92 has to be 23. In USA. 23A Scorpion 03 FD 38 Confirmed. At Eden Camp. 23B Scimitar 06 FD 06 Confirmed. At Eden Camp. 23C Scimitar 06 FD 97 Confirmed. At Eden Camp. 4 Troop 24 Scorpion 02 FD 76 Confirmed. Scorpion / Sabre. Part owned by barrynevuk, Middlesex. 24A Scorpion 03 FD ?? Possibly 03 FD 34 or 03 FD 84? Both are / were Scorpion / Sabre. based on the notes by Charlie2356 following studies to the images on this post. 24B Scimitar 06 FD 94 (?) Thought to be this VRM by the process of deduction, we know its a Falklands CVR(T) as it appears in this photo on Ascension with the others. 24C Scimitar 05 FD 72 (?) Unfortunately, both the line-up picture at Southampton and the rear view taken on Ascension Island are not great quality, and my attempts to enlarge the images weren't a great success, but based on these two photos 24C could be 05 FD 72. o REME 28 Samson 00 GM 45 Confirmed VRN, as on pictures on this post. The Callsign 28 is confirmed in the Haynes CVR(T) book as posted by Charlie 2356. and a copy of the Merlin Archive on this vehicle posted by sirhc confirms it was rebuilt. On 15/08/2013 it was at Witham (Specialist Vehicles) Ltd. However, the next entry reads "Date Not Recorded - RHG/D LAD". So at some point it was cast, but within the last nine years it has been taken back on strength, and has actually gone back to the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons). Is it still serving with them?
  8. Ad Lovely pics, I dont think your too late... it was revived in 2022 by myself and a few others and we managed to figure quite a lot out! 03 FD 45 is not a Falklands CVRT, the destroyed Scorpion was 02 FD 76
  9. Hi all, I have something to revive this again after 2 years. Hope your all having a good 2024. Tonight on Facebook I saw a post from eden camp about their CVR(T)s, this picture is from Ascension Island and solves another mystery. Scimitar 06FD94 on the right if I am reading that correctly and by process of elimination that will be 24B. That will mean we have: 3.5/4 Scorpion VRMs (Missing half of 24A, we only know it is 03 FD ??) 3.99/4 Scimitar VRMs (24C we are only guessing from low quality images, believed to be 05 FD 72) and of course we have the Samson VRM
  10. Any turret interior pics would still be much appreciated! Thanks
  11. Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone has any photos of the CVRT including: Photos of the overall engine bay/frontal area Scimitar interior and turret interior. Many thanks, Charlie.
  12. At the Falklands Victory Parade. Could be something.
