Great War truck
Thanks Not from a Liberty B truck then. Something smaller. Any more photos?
Cel
This may not be WW1 related. I have a Belgian built engine of the make Wafflard that I am taking apart to get it running again. The carburetor is a Claudel-Hobson, it appears that this type was also used on the ABC flat twin engines. However this one is marked 'made in Belgium'. The magneto has round bar magnets and is stamped 'W^D' and 'BX4', so I think it is British. If anyone can tell me more about the carburetor and magneto I can possibly put a year on the engine. Thank you Marcel
garys39
Some nice WW1 era vehicles coming up in the Cheffins auction. http://www.cheffins.co.uk/lot/-1190123-vintage-0 Gary
Old Bill
Yes! I have taken quite a fancy to this Latil but we have enough to keep us going until I drop! I saw it on the Brighton run when I was at college. It was departing from Battersea Park in a raging rainstorm and the crew were in oilskins! After that it disappeared so it is nice to see it out again. Steve

Old Bill
Are you sure that it is the same one? The Latil I recall from Brighton around then had Portal Axles. Oh yes, certain of it. I have been looking for the photos that I took on that day but they seem to have gone adrift in the last thirty years! Steve

8_10 Brass Cleaner
Whats this off then? Looks to have the worm at least, no halfshafts.
Redherring
It could be one of these... Pretty sure they're off a Vulcan... Robert
Old Bill
Whats this off then? Looks to have the worm at least, no halfshafts. Is that one in Hertfordshire? I may well have gone to see it 20 years ago! I'll look out the photos later. Steve
11th Armoured
It could be one of these... No help with the query, but when I first saw your photo out the corner of my eye, I thought the axle pictured was either really small, or you had REALLY big hands... Great War truck
I think that axle has been on here before. Cant remember what we said it was. Something quite unusual I think.
8_10 Brass Cleaner
I think that axle has been on here before. Cant remember what we said it was. Something quite unusual I think. One of my Friends has come accross it 'in the London area'. Sounds like it has been on here before. The Vulcan axle looks a good match to me. Can anyone point it in the direction of a home?. If it has a worm and wheel in it, then surely someone will be glad of it.
Ed Batchelor
Can anyone shed some light on this chassis, Commer of Luton on hubs.
Old Bill
I saw this one in Hertfordshire years ago whilst looking for a Thorny axle. The owner was very amenable at the time but I couldn't find him now! Could be the same one. Steve
Runflat
We peviously had a Vulcan chassis here (page 2 and 5): http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?20868-Leyland-mobile-workshop

Great War truck
24,500 Euros? Ridiculous. Could buy a complete restored truck for that amount.
Great War truck
Or maybe not. Here is a Pierce Arrow for sale on E Bay. Asking price £45,000! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pierce-Arrow-1916-WW1-Ammunition-supply-truck-US-Army/132052348606?_trksid=p2047675.c100013.m1986&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D40760%26meid%3Dace17465ae9947a09bd1793ab76f5ca4%26pid%3D100013%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D112253462413
Citroman
The fan looks a bit strange, a mix of parts?
Great War truck
What do you think this was. The letters EWC show on one hub. Looks to be very heavy duty. Tar boiler perhaps?
Redherring
With a tank situated laterally at the rear? The three locking mechanisms on each side don't appear to be very strong; unlike the frame? It's no racing car. Never seen anything quite like it! Though the spoke/wheel pattern is familiar... steel wheels on an otherwise timber-framed farm dray. David Herbert
I suspect that it is the chassis of a large diesel compressor and nothing like as old as it looks at first sight. They were still being made with that style wheels in the '50s. However I have not heard of EWC so will hope to be enlightened. David
79x100
A Google of EWC turns up 'Electric Wheel Co'. http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=implment&th=247515
