Lee,

Yes provisionally, but I don't know which vehicles we will take yet, so we might not need very much or we might need loads. After Christmas I'll investigate transport, hopefully we'll get 2 or more CVRTs and the Fox there next year.

I always look forward to war and fleece because the sun always seems to shine and you always see so many friends from all over the country and even the world there!

I too received my Xmas card this weekend but I haven't taken a Military Vehicle to the event ever since the £25 facility fee was enforced several years ago. It just goes against the grain to fill the toys up with vapourising juice at nearly £1 a litre, drive through three counties and the Dartford Bridge to get there and park our vehicles in a field for the paying public to witness AND then be charged £25 for the privilage of attending the worlds largest Military Vehicle Spectacular!!!!

Ok, so I may be accussed of being a professional winger but it just ain't right - Is it ??

Think about it.......................

I remember Pete Cartner's fantastic cartoon called Panama Hatty which showed a gent in a Panama Hat sat behind his desk on the telephone at the war and peace office. The first cartoon speech bubble went along the lines of "Oh yes Mr. Green, its £10 each to get into the show and see the military vehicles parked in our field." :-(

The second cartoon showed the identical image with another speech bubble coming from the opposite side of his mouth and went along the lines of "Oh yes Mr. Brown, its £25 to come to the show and park your military vehicle in our field for the public to look at!" :-o

The eyes were shown with ££££ signs in!!!!! :-o :-o

Those who have been in the MV movement for over 5 or 6 years will probably remember the cartoon I am on about - It was magic :-D

I'm not saying that I would not go to the event, because I always do. But, I would not support the event again with a Military Vehicle until the £25 charge is dropped. Me thinks I'm going to have to wait a long time for that though so I'm not holding my breath!

We drive from Holland and take the Ferry from Dunkirk.

To save $$$ we take a white Reanault Express marked as UN.

25 GBP to be allowed is much since we MV owners make the show so large.

A fee to cover water and garbagedisposal and whatever OK, but why so much.

On the other hand for us its our Holiday, still cheaper then the Costa Del Slut......

For most IMPS long standing members it's free entry... I presume this still stands....

http://www.thewarandpeaceshow.com/mailing_list/february_2002.html

Access to the War and Peace Show. By now all IMPS members should have had the opportunity to read the War and Peace Ltd - IMPS contract and it has been brought to my attention that there is some confusion over the expiry date of free pedestrian and vehicular access. To clarify this in the contract - Obligations of the Company, clause 5.4 we quote: "Allow current and new members of IMPS with valid membership cards issued prior to 31 December 2000 free public entry, free vehicle entry and half price caravan entry to the show for the duration of this agreement". In December 2000 War and Peace extended this concession as a gesture of goodwill to the 31st December 2001 and in June 2001 when the new 2002 entry forms were printed this was confirmed in writing. The entry forms were examined and found to be correct by the committee at that time. We therefore stand by the extended date of 31st Dec 2001.

Lee,

Latest entry form states free MV entry to IMPS members if they joined prior to December 2003.

I have been entering since the first ones at Tenterden in 1982, never had to pay, but for 8 days holiday amongst friends from worldwide, what is £25.

What I don't get is the people who won't pay £25 to bring their vehicles to the show & for a weeks entertainment but they are prepared to come to the show every year & pay the public entry fee to walk round the stalls:? I know quite a few of them..

I am sure i read somewhere that the imps had 100 free entry tickets for its members that were not taking vehicles last year, i bet they got handed out to the elite.

I prefered it when W&P only charged £10 for MV owners to enter - surely they make enough from the public and stalls so they could let us in for free. Please correct me if im wrong but dont re-enactment groups get in for free and they still use the showers and create rubbish so why are the MV owners charged.

As its the 25th anniversary and they want to make this one special maybe to gain more interest from MV owners they should let us in for nothing. As Clive Stevens said he wont go due to being charged £25 and I bet he is not the only one so if the fee way waived this year I bet there would be more of responce from MV owners even if they are like Clive WW2 owners :-)

(Only joking Clive lets not start another WW2/Post War debate)

NO they did not get handed out to the elite as you put it, if you are a member and had read the monthly newsletter's before the show, then you would have read in there that it was "First come first served" as has been the case previous years.

I was at the time an imps member and did read the news letter. I know an imps member that phoned for tickets as soon as he received the news letter and was told they had all been given out so I am sorry if i have trouble believing that it was first come first served.

The imps member i refer to has since given up his membership of many many years in discussed at having to pay to enter w&p as a member of public seeing as its supported by the imps.

Mark, hate to say it, but we are aware also that the tickets were handed out at the main IMPS meeting and not made available to other areas unless people from that area happened to be at the main area meeting.

Maybe not the "elite" as it has been put, but those in the know definately as this has been the normal practise in the past from what we have been led to believe.

Would also like to add that on occasion the monthly newsletter does not arrive on peoples doorsteps until after the main area meeting, so being there for the handout is not an option for the many that might like to avail themselves of the free ticket offer.

I myself do not pay for vehicle entry as I am a long term member of IMPS, and whilst I can understand the viewpoint of those who feel they should not be paying to attend a MV show I ask where can one "camp" for up to a fortnight in this country for £25.00 ?

The facilities are what you make of them and whilst they can be a little "neolithic" at times they have much improved over the past 5 years. Also considering that there are some 3000 -4000 plus exhibitors its no wonder they do fall down on some occasions.

What I do take umbrage with however, is the exorbitant pricing from the consession stalls to the vehicle exhibitors. They in effect have a "captive" customer base with us onsite and appear to take advantage of that. I understand the need to make a profit when running a business but surely with the amount of public that pass through the gates and use the consessions they could "adjust" their prices after the doors close to the GP. The fact that we have to wear an wristband is an identification of being an exhibitor be it vehicle or living history and as such anyone wearing a wristband should receive a discounted price from the consessions.

Just my view

Hi all,

i couldn't`t believe the hike from £5:00 to £25:00 at the time , and as i trailer the jeep now theres an additional £30:00  (still cheaper than a lone drive) but here is a venue where i can meet friends and fellow minded people MV collectors, British and German militaria collectors, re-enacters (axis and allied), camp for over a week ,and though a good friend of mine only lives thirty miles away i can guarantee i will always meet him at the W&P show WHAT A BLAST!

Also this year i want to try and meet more of you guy`s

i also pay the £25 quite willingly, we always camp for 9 days & the £25 does get a family of 4 in for the duration which is much cheaper than £13.00 each for 1 day.

i love it and always book it from 1 year to the next to make sure i get the time off work.

great weather, great friends, great stalls, great socialising with like minded folk never before met & great dancing.

my Jimmy will be back there next year for sure.
