rog8811
As always the sound of a piston engine had me looking for a gap in the trees, saw a glimpse of a triplane, when it went overhead I unexpectedly saw british markings! Double checked it to be a triple decker as it flew away... good old Google shows it to be a Sopwith, I never knew we had a triplane, learn something new every day:cheesy: Seen over Headley in Surrey...heading for Redhill airodrome maybe? Pzkpfw-e
A Junkers ........ not seen one of those flying for some years. The Swiss have a trio of fliers, Lufthansa has one http://www.lufthansa-ju52.de/, it was at Duxford a few years back, with its Taifun stablemate. 4 other fliers from the Spanish CASA-built versions are still around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airworthy_Ju_52

RecyMech
Saw a Catalina (yes definately...twin engine in the high wing, huge wingspan, flying boat hull, undercarriage tucked up inside the hull) in flight over Spilsby (just north of Boston, not far from Conningsby) at 2.15pm today. Almost went V.O.R watching it. First one I've EVER seen I think, let alone in flight. Anyone else in Lincs spot it ??? Enigma
I heard a Chinook aproach and then 2 F16's who screamed over earlier flew towards it. 1 of the F16 flew behind the Chinook for a while with the 2nd F 16 a bit more back. The fighters went off soon after meeting the helicopter.

RecyMech
Something over Stickney at 11.30 this morning. Flight path suggested it was coming from Conningsby direction & was headed for east coast. Single seat, single engine, mono, square wing tips, tear drop canopy. Too high & too far away to see any markings, but in level flight it was REALLY getting a move on & sounded VERY sweet. Not growly like the other local Merlins, had a definate whine to it though.....'looked' like a P51 maybe ? H
