  1. Why go against what it says in the User Handbook ? Drain it from the oil tank sump plug, put an old carpet down and have a few containers ready for the deluge of oil.......
  2. In the olden days there was a sign at the side of the slip road to a motorway which prohibited certain vehicles and a TRACKED VEHICLE was one of them. Has this restriction been removed or is it still illegal ?
  3. Found this on ebay. It is a display at Bude, Cornwall. I have never seen this done with a Ferret.....
  4. I got my Tracklink today, a magazine of The Friends of The Tank Museum and was sad to see the death being announced of Catty Taylor on 11 May. His real name was Graham late of 3RTR and I first met him in 1984. He was somewhat outspoken as some of you will know but I never had any trouble with him at all, indeed he was always friendly and helpful to me. Another 'character' gone.........
  5. Rob I have already got Victory Salvo in a packet for you as I read about the Pheasant, so I thought of you. Don't buy one you can have mine FOC, more later......
  6. Very good, I knew some one know it. Young soldiers don't..........
  7. The names of military items will change over the years. There will be people on this Forum who have no idea what a 'bondhook' is. Leave it for a bit those who know and let some suggestions come in. BTW it is not getatable on Google...
  8. In a previous post I was asked to comment about working on a project for the Tank Museum. Two tanks were restored from range wrecks A11 Matilda started 1988 and took 5.25 years and Churchill AVRE also started in 1988 and nearly 11 years. At that time I was dealing with George Forty and Neville Anderson and the relationship was fine, no interference whatsoever. Expenses for parts used were paid promptly without any query, however I was honest at all times so that is what I expected. The tanks were with me to restore for the TM at my place of business and I was in control.
  9. A little advice please as we are on the subject of fluid flywheels. I have split the two halves of it and now need to use a sealant upon re-assembly. Can I successfully use Delta 555 or must I use the recommended Loctite 573 ? Thanks Bob
  10. I purchased two of these from Aston Down, one cost £380+VAT. This would be the late 1990's so even at todays money quite cheap
  11. Yes the trench digger entered service as the Light Mobile Digger (LMD) now long gone...........
  12. Robin There is nothing wrong in a rant. It seems we are losing sight of what it is to be alive and be responsible for our own actions.
  13. For a while now there has been banner advertisements on the Forum for the late lamented TA, now The Army Reserve. I wonder how many members have taken advantage of joining ?
  14. I agree entirely, punishment of blatant crimes in this country is woefully lacking in severity.
  15. Wow..........watched it twice.
  16. Capt Max, I don't want to criticise as you seem to be doing an excellent job but the inside of any hatches should be the same colour as the outside colour.
  17. Well we can all joke about this but because it is shown incapable of driving up that mound there is very likely a genuine reason why it did not.
  18. In the 1970's and early 80's a tin of boot polish was carried round all day and night in an infantrymans webbing, an essential item....
  19. I have had a search and these chaps may be of the same party in The Daily Mail photo. It is Q 4288 Battle of Morval, 'Wiring party carrying their implements going up to the line near Ginchy'
  20. It is an Imperial war Museum photograph in the 'Q' series. Look in IWM Collection Search on the web, we don't know the number but there is a box for key words, 99% sure it is the late summer of 1916, maybe the attack on Morval which as everyone knows is the First Battle of the Somme. My question is why you want a good resolution of it ?
  21. I saw it in Wigan Asda yesterday..................and it can stay there.
  22. Cel This is a well known photograph but it is not necessarily the correct caption. E (AUS) 711 'Walking and stretcher-case wounded of 1st and 2nd Division Australian Infantry on the Menin Road after the battle.' The statement about a shell landing is just conjecture, it may have done, but Frank Hurley was known to elaborate his photographs with additions to make them more appealing to his audience.
  23. No, incorrect it was taken in Ashton in Makerfield and at the time it was owned by me.
  24. Were they used just after the war on a feature film ?
