  1. The last MVT Windscreen, with its new editor, was much better than the last CMV.
  2. That scruffy one was probably viewed by me about ten years ago in the scrapyard. It had a Perkins V8 to make it crawl about....
  3. That IS very interesting. You say the Government has refused to allow you to pursue the matter further, can you elaborate on this please ?
  4. Looking at the colour it should be a water can (?). Anyway not needed by me; £20
  5. If anyone wants some red 'uns I have some.....
  6. This was one of the 'dull' archive photographs that appeared last year. It was stated that it was a tragedy but the photo should have been edited in that the poor chap who is the fatality can be seen between the two chaps on the left. By editing I do not mean that it should have been edited out. This months 'Echos of war' shows a PzKw4 which was wrongly caption at the time as a Tiger, this also should have been qualified. I do think that CMV could be better....
  7. In the early part of this century I was asked to give an opinion on this Thornycroft which was south of Widnes. Does anyone know its fate ?
  8. I don't often laugh at the PC screen but I did just now........
  9. Mike's question is an important one, I do hope that an answer is forthcoming......
  10. Try posting, with a photograph, on The Great War Forum
  11. One has done a nominal 6,500 miles in service. Now what did they cost the taxpayer ? I would suggest that a bit more than what they will be sold for. Do you think that is good value for our money...........
  12. Thank you both for the links, so it is from a 76mm as installed in a Scorpion which makes sense as to why I have it.....
  13. I have found this item which is from a gun, is it legal !?!! However what gun is it from? Stamped upon it is FL 14259 and 4992X after the last number is a small diamond with a downward pointing arrow. If any one wants it then PM me.
  14. I have heard of this 'mod' but would the thing stop as it was going so fast .....
  15. Look closely at the centre photo and you will see an Abbot less 105mm gun. This is in Classic Commercials January 2016 about E Elliot & Sons Transport Ltd, Poole who we involved in an accident on the Bournemouth to Weymouth road, probably late 1960's. The VRN of the Abbot is in shadow so an unknown vehicle (at the moment), four soldiers seem to be assisting with the Abbot to pull the Foden clear.
  16. For me it has to be one of the worst......
  17. Hitler's Armada (2008) by Geoff Hewitt which validates the fact that the proposed German invasion would have utterly failed. Read the book to find out why, clue, it was not the valiant RAF...
  18. John Pearson's valentine and Tank Museum AVRE on landing craft at Poole Harbour 3 April 2004
  19. It had to be worn but nowadays it seems soldiers can go without headdress..................why ?
  20. Tim Just had a look at CMV but did not see anything about repainting replica trucks. However I did notice that next month we can read about Wartime Ferrets............
  21. This scope thread is vey interesting, thanks Rick. This a postwar scope (part), what is it ? I have two if they are of use to someone.
  22. I did not know that Churchills were manufactured in Canada..... Please enlighten us upon this.
  23. In the mid 1990's H M Government had c.600 Stalwarts for disposal, which they did. Would it not have been prudent to reserve say 100 of the best ones and allocate them to areas that would be liable to flooding ? Or is that too simple for the authorities ? Any way, well done to use your Stalwart for moving Pig food but with a little common sense local councils could have moved people probably not even having the Stalwarts to swim, just deep ford.
  24. Twas ever thus. My pals Colin and Peter who did an awful lot of work on Rick Wedlocks Cromwell restoration and were not mentioned in the feature in Classic Military Vehicles. To be blunt it would not have been completed without them.
