  1. Then we have an article in the Sunday Telegraph showing what should be depicted. Well they get that wrong as well ! Photo shows a Spitfire with a band (in Sky type S) on the fuselage forward of the tail surfaces, this was only introduced in December 1940, the Battle of Britain was over by then.........
  2. There is a photo of a Saracen, with a daft bird at the side of it, taken in my yard well over ten years ago so it does seem a bit odd.
  3. Sorry, got that wrong, no one is right every time.....
  4. There may be more than one tank in this pile of bits as there are two types of track shown........
  5. Mr Dellboy Have a look on The Great War Forum there are experts on this who can guide you or help you direct.
  6. The A10 at Pirbright went to AF Budge at Gamston, Notts and was dumped at the side of their big building, Despite me egging them on to restore it, it went for scrap.....
  7. Rick, why are you certain it is a A9 ? Is there evidence as to the two sub-turrets being/were there ? Could it be a A10 ? Great find anyway.........
  8. A great photo, anything known about these blokes ? What's the div sign on the mudguard ?
  9. Dan I have sent two PM's did you get them ? Bob
  10. It is not just a question of shipping there are procedures and licences to obtain. Before going further I will wait for some to recommend (or otherwise) me........
  11. You maybe correct. The book 'One More River to Cross' by JH Joiner, page 276 shows the Light Assault Floating Bridge being positioned at RSME Chatham by one of these boats. Photo IWM 9978
  12. I have an elderly friend who was in the Royal Tank Regiment. His tank was a Centurion Mk3, 05 ZR 57. He has asked me if I knew what fate befell his tank, scrapped, range target or exported ? Can anyone help please ?
  13. What is the event and who is the bird and the officer ?
  14. Thank you for your kind words.............. We all read pamphlets, in this case I read it in c.1972 but I believe that it was in a 1950's pamphlet and contained the words 'aerial torpedoes' ?
  15. Is it a drawing to show the track of an explosive device that has been dropped from an aeroplane ?
  16. Great stories from HMVF pals. What about travelling with 20+ in a RL with no seats at all, so standing all the way, 1971.
  17. When there is that new contraption with men facing outwards, where can you put all the kit ? In olden days all the hay boxes, radios, cam nets, Sgt's mess stuff, stretchers and so on could be piled in the middle, plus you could put your feet up on it all. It was very sociable facing each other as well, good for moral, jokes and singing.
  18. Note; Near perfect kit, BEF by the end of 1914 were a shambles with regards uniforms. No one is smoking, fags for Tommy! Soldiers are generally too young for a, in effect, a pre war Army Moustaches absent Trenches far too well made for this period
  19. The engine at the top I think was one that was fitted to the Colworth motorcycle at the end of its limited production run.
  20. Its only an advert but a bit Disneyfied at that though......
  21. Are you the same chap who went for a 'jolly' in a Scorpion of mine in the mid 1990's round Standish ?
  22. This is it, now in Northern Ireland, it was very (very) complete but the bins and mudguards were rotten.
