I must confess that it was me that sold the Abbot to the man in Brixton, I was not aware what an idiot he was at the time.
Subsequently after a few years I bought it back, it was wrecked. At one time they was to burn a hole in the hull side to get at the starter motor but I managed to talk them out of it. They could not lock the turret so angle was welded to stop it revolving. A very grim sorry looking Abbot complete with the remains of a dummy policeman strapped to the muzzle brake
when it arrived at my yard.
All photos of the same tank. It was recovered from a site in Kent where it had been dug in for airfield defence c.1940.
To my disgust it was taken away for scrap after a year or so at the Tank Museum.
I hope to have some Chieftain smoke grenade discharger barrel covers made. I only have one as a pattern, are they both the same or are they handed ?
Thanks
Bob
There will be some dosh made on the back of this, yet again spending other peoples money. Twas ever thus.....
Do you know if there will be detailed accounts showing where the funds have gone; labour, parts, materials etc ?
On that link there was not one mention of the actual bus in the Comments. there was just people burbling on about the usual horror and their ancestors who were there, it is getting tedious......
Good grief I got that bit wrong.......
The correct wording should be NOT expensive, it depends on how far the diversion is. Whatever the load is it can be kept at my yard (WN40YU) for collection or onward despatch.
There is an empty wagon coming back from the Colchester area to Wigan on Tuesday 15th April. It is an eight legger Brimec that can carry 15 tonnes and is has an HIAB behind the cab but this will not lift a lot. It will not be inexpensive......
Please PM me before Monday.
