Protruckservices.com The second one Clive, was it rejected in favour of the Foden 8x6 because of marginal weight capacity on the front end? I believe they were only 10 ton axles. protruck
Hi stal108. If my memory is correct the tyres are Michelin 24 r 20.5 XS. but you would need to modifi the cab wings, front bumpers, cab steeps, rear cab wings, and a higher rated pump. And it makes it 3m wide. Hope this helps. Clive .............................. protruckservices.com Edited June 12, 2010 by protruck
protruck
Hi Mike. I can't remember off hand if the 8x6 foden replaced the 6x6 wide track, but the Dana axle can have a different rating depending on which type of hubs are fitted. The standard hubs are 1S but if you fit X1 hubs you get a better load rating. BUT the 6x6 with the 24r20.5 xs tyres on was 3m wide which gave it a much better tilt angle. but it was over normal road width.:-( Hope this is of some help. Markheliops
Hi all. Thought I would add this to the Foden thread - I have just purchased this from a chap on here - (Bran) a thoroughly nice chap. A very impressive vehicle both in looks and what it can carry - 20 tonnes plus pulling a 6 ton trailer. The beavertail conversion has been done to a very high standard as has the fitting of a Fuller 9 speed gearbox. Other than that it is standard. Bran has carried an FV432 and a Ward La France on the back. I am attempted a trail loading of the Ward tomorrow (Tuesday) at the farm and shall get some pictures.
