LarryH57
What scum for stealing our heritage. Probably stolen to order as RJ Mitchells Cigarette case will hardly have any scrap value Everyone look out for it in case it comes out in the open in a year or two and its the only one with RJM on it! MatchFuzee
A great loss for the museum but surely the security was not as good as it should have been if there was only a glass door to keep the museum secure.
marmon
Very sad, an exact list of items would help, they'll probably be advertised at some point.
fesm_ndt
says "where they used crowbars and sledgehammers to open the 6ft tall safe" seems targeted, as opputunist wouldn't be carrying around crowbars and sledge hammers. It would be interesting to know if the safe is visible to the public or behind closed doors. definitely the world is far less civilised than 100 years ago
andym
Note by the way that it was a fire safe, which does exactly what it says on the tin - they're not designed for security. A second-hand Chubb EDR or similar from eBay would just have sat there and laughed at them. Andy
paulob1
this sounds like a group who are not local who may travel about...the tools they used are typical heavy handed and dont give a monkeys about anything...
paul_bish
very sad. Lets hope they had CCTV or can recover these items. They will be sold to someone in the wider community we all know at some point... thats the scary bit
MatchFuzee
Good news, RJ Mitchell's cigarette case returned anonymously. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-32155465
Tim Isaac
Fantastic to see it returned, I wonder if the thief`s conscience may have been touched on this very forum? We were burgled by a "collector" thief, he still attends shows and rallies where he has also been convicted for thieving De-acs and kit. Surely it's time this thief should be taken aside and shown the error of his ways;)
Bob Grundy
Surely it's time this thief should be taken aside and shown the error of his ways;) I agree entirely, punishment of blatant crimes in this country is woefully lacking in severity. paulob1
punishment of criminals does not work, it has been shown time and time again to fail...we need to use other methods to stop this sort of thing...a rope with 13 hoops placed around the neck with a short jump is the best choice for most career criminals...not much else works...... They should be given useful work in the community - such as clearing land mines on the Falklands.
