wheatcroft collection

I think it is funded by his dad, but what an incredible collection. I did not know that he had half of this stuff. Another King Tiger! Amazing! I would love to see it. It is nice knowing all this stuff is safe, but if most of it is hidden away it is real shame.

Where on earth do these guys get their hands on so much, and how is the collection funded???

Most of the stuff is available, but at a price. The world's scrap yard and battle fields are scrounged these days. AFAIK, the collection is privately funded. Good to see that that sort of money is spent on Old Army Trucks, rather than on booze and women :-D

Plans to build a racing car museum? His Dad has owned the collection of racing cars at Donnington Park for years (because he also owned Donnington Park!) - I'm not sure if he's sold it now, which is why they might have to move the museum?

I think you'll find Kevin Wheatcroft is a pretty quiet totally unflashy sort of bloke. I have never met him or anyone who works for the collection. I just hope he continues to bring his stuff out to shows. The big FAMO is a fine example and I would love to see a line up of all the German half-tracks. But I'm not paying for the gas.

He also has a rare Stuart I'd like to see, an M3A3 used by the Brits.

dream on.

At the last Beltring whilst helping a friend on a stall got into conversation re a flak 88 bit of equiptment on the stall a most unassuming type of chap who wore a sweatshirt with a motif of the Bruce Crompton collection.

As we talked it transpired to be Bruce himself the owner of the collection. Chatty guy, very pleasant , had time to talk a really nice down to earth guy:thumbsup:
