Mk3iain
I have just contacted Footman James to re-new my vehicle insurance to be told that they can no longer cover non-British makes ! :undecided: So after 10 years or so I have moved to Adrian Flux. Has anyone else come across this ? Iain

fv1609
Wife's Hilux Surf was with F-J then last year we were told they would no longer cover it. Something about developing their specialised markets & we were passed to another company. The premium increased & so did the excesses so we went to Adrain Flux & got it cheaper than it had been with F-J. Queer thing was that the underwriters (in Malta) were the same as the new expensive company we were passed to by F-J.

Mk3iain
Could you define 'Non-British make'? My vehicles are Ford, which is American, but made in Dagenham. Also Bedfords are General Motors, which is also American. They did ask where the Chevy was made (Chevrolet T & B Canada) and then said they could only cover British vehicles. The impression I got was that they would only cover vehicles of British manufacture. This may or may not have come to light as I had let the cover laps for a couple of months due to getting confused, maybe if it had been continuous cover I might have been OK. But then I am a typical "loyal" customer and always took the convenient way and continued with F-J each year without shopping around, not the best way ! ArtistsRifles
Should be interesting in May then - my policy comes up for renewal with FJ and includes the Czech built OT-90. Last year the policy was nearly £300. Maybe I'll do some shopping this year too.....

arcot1751
I insure with RH Specialist Insurance on 01277 206911 who advertises in most classic car mags and I believe one of the military mags, I insure my Chevy G-7107 cargo with them no problems and at a good price, they also insured my Ford GPW again at a decent price. They are great on the phone know what they are talking about and insure multiple vehicles on one policy, when I insured the Chevy they actually got its details up on the screen and knew exactly what it was and what it looked like, some insurers if you go beyond a Ford Escort have not got a clue what you are talking about, these are different and take the time to help. They also insure classic bikes and modern classics ie. series three landrovers etc. They also insured my Green Goddess a few years ago and at the time they were hard to insure when fully kitted. Hope that helps ?
