  1. had my Defender insured with Sureterm direct for over fifteen years till last year, when they they doubled the quote .I rang them and was told they no longer wanted to quote my postcode.OL9 and it was their way of putting me off.Full no claims vehicle immobilised and watched by cctv ,No thanks!!.The Champ is with Adrian Flux and it has crept up and its lucky to do 700 miles a year.
  2. Driver .Driven for a living since passing my test over thirty years ago.Recently 8 wheel hook bodies ,but after 3 months out of work .I start for Stagecoach on Monday.Fancy going back coach driving though.

  11. I went first time I,ve gone. Not sure if I will make a 250mile round trip again though.I met up with the Champ owners which was a highlight. As someone said so many people wandering aimlessly struggled to look at stalls. How many machine guns was there for sale??. I,ve never seen so many.I was smiling when I saw the price of a SMLE I got offered one the other week converted to .410 cartridge for £55.At least I could use that one.I thought some stalls were silly prices ,one wanted £20 for a new beret ,whilst another one had the same make for £8.It definately paid to check everything twice.
  12. Yes I,ve joined the Champ club great bunch of people.I dont think there are any after market heaters for them as I dont think there is anywhere to take heater pipe of the engine block.I,ve never seen a hardtop like that one the way the screen is shaped looks to me like its off another vehicle.
  13. Try Blanchards in Yorkshire. They usually have all these manuals in.They still have about 50 series 2a and series 3 ambulances around their yard, and all parts to match.

  20. I want to try and do it as a 4RTR vehicle as my Dad served with them in the early 50s. Anyone who knows the correct markings please get in touch .I know it should have the 7th Armoured Brigade badge as I,ve seen a picture of a BAOR vehicle from 4RTR in the Champ magazine. But I want know the other side .
  21. Thought I would try to add a couple of pictures of my Champ .Bought last year around April passed its MOT within 6 weeks. Its a rolling restoration I enjoy using it,It will never be a showstopper but I dont care its mine and thats how I like it.
  22. Interesting question. Its obviously not a goods carrier, but as to carrying passengers thats another thing. How many passengers do they carry as you can drive a nine seater on a car license recently issued ,but I think yours issued so long ago would allow upto 16 seats not for hire or reward. If its MOT exempt I would think you would be okay as long as you dont offer rides in it on the road.It would be an interesting question for the DVLA but I still wouldnt take their reply as word.
