Hello from South Wales!

Hi everyone, long time lurker and first time poster. I have been planning a Jeep purchase for the last year and finally made the leap last weekend and it is now sat in my garage. It is MOTed and all on the road, aside from a blown starter motor (so has to be bump started) which I am sorting at the moment.

From what I can tell through research and looking at the Frame number my jeep is a 1944 Willys MB. Has the right engine though have yet to check serial number to see what age. Body appears to be original and all round I am over the moon to finally have one, condition is really lovely on it. I am 26 years old and have worked my butt off to get the Jeep and now look forward to the weather improving to get a tonne of use out of her! I re-enact ww2 British airborne and joined the south east wales MVT a few weeks back. You will find me at loads of events relating to both throughout the year.

Here is a pic from a week ago from where I picked it up, was a six hour drive each way pulling her back on a trailer!

Welcome Nikos, lovley place you live.

Hi Tony, South Wales is a lovely place....... but I think you will find that the Jeep was photographed at the property of the seller, prior to removal................ I am assuming that you were refereing to the property, if of course you meant S. Wales, then of course I apologise profusely.

Cheers everyone! I live in Caerleon South Wales, UK, just outside Newport or about 10 miles East of Cardiff. The picture was taken last week in Durham where I bought it on Saturday, it was a hell of a long run to bring it back on a trailer.

The Ferret is a great vehicle! If I am honest I believe my love of the Jeep started with an excessive amount of watching Kelly's Heroes growing up. Its not the only thing I want though. I want a White Scout car at some point in the future as my grandfather drove one in the war. Also an Enfield Flying Flea might be on the cards.

Right now my plans are to familiarize myself with the Jeep as I have never been much of a mechanic, and to find a Brit airborne trailer to go with it. I attend all sorts of events through south Wales and the South west of England.

Well aware of it, no worries!

I should point out that this isn't my first MV. I owned an ex-army Landrover. 1971 Seriea 2a ambulance for a few years. But that has long gone and was never the sort of hobby that I consider my Jeep to be.

Must admit, I wouldn't mind having a crack at driving my Dodge up Pen Y Fan, in winter. :-D

I shudder at even the thought, its cold enough up there in Spring! There are some great hills/mountains that I'd love to have a crack at, but I think it would be more than a little frowned upon.

  • 1 year later...

hey welcome in Boyo !! :) ...lovely Jeep..very envious !

....and...I didn't know you could still drive vehicles on the Pen y Fan / Brecon gap road?.....

....I thought 'the powers that be' had stopped all that kind of fun & closed most of them down to 4x4s etc ??..

Anyways !...I agree....a lovely area ........:)

....as said above though......

...in between the rain that is....and the snow.......and the cold..and a bit more rain...then a bit more snow..then some mist.and a bit of fog.and.and.and :D
