It looked grey in colour with red flashes on the tail and wings any ideas? Most likely not an Anson then. I believe there are 2 airworthy examples. Shuttleworth's Blue one (technically an Avro 19) Air Atlantique Classic Flight's Silver one with yellow wing flashes Now we are going to have to work out what you saw. marvinthemartian
Laid on settee this morning at 6.15, and heard the usual whine of jet engines. I thought to myself that it's a bit early for the Typhoons to be messing around, when I got outside I saw 6 F15 Eagles and a KC135 tanker at fairly high level heading I presume for Lakenheath. Marmite!!
Apache Helicopter over Ongar, Essex.. keep seeing these over last few weeks & couldn't work out where they are going.. quick search come up with this.. An MOD spokesman confirmed that far from being on the brink of invasion, Epping was on the flightpath for Apaches heading to Salisbury Plain for military exercises. The distinctive black helicopters have been spotted over the Copped Hall Estate flying two by two. They are usually based at Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk. Caddy
Apache Helicopter over Ongar, Essex.. keep seeing these over last few weeks & couldn't work out where they are going.. quick search come up with this.. I often see apaches flying over north Essex. They seem to go airfield hopping over the old WWII airfields. I've even seen one mooching down Standsted's runway at a sedate pace before heading off to RAF Andrewsfield (used to live nearby).

Hen Hunter
I think they must be doing a bit of a display together - I heard a rumour that they will both be making an appearance in Shropshire next week ?
Chris Hall
They did a display together a few years ago, the Spitfire at full throttle in a dive and the Typhoon almost at stall speed but bloody good flying by both pilots.

Photo recon colours flying SW over Benfleet Essex Light Blue (Sky Blue??) as painted to reprisent the Spits that did the recon on the Dams before and after Operation Chastice (Dambusters raid) to see the effects of the bombings.
