mammoth
I think they were still around for WW2, or maybe they never left the tool boxes from the previous . conflict. Because they were mild steel they were made thick to compensate for lack of strength. Probably more useful as a hammer.
Richard Farrant
King Dick adjustable, useful tool, still have my father's one in my toolbox, think it was in his 1950's Austin lorry tool kit (civilian) and a smaller one in the Austin Seven tool roll. Simonl
When somebody asked our training instructor for an adjustable spanner when we were apprentices his reply was "When you show me an adjustable nut you can have an adjustable spanner"

Great War truck
There is a picture on the vendors website of the number on the axle only. Very tempting, but I think I need more photos before parting with any money.
Great War truck
A wartime period Velie has turned up in Lithuania of all places. It looks to be in good condition but the owner thinks it is a White apparently. Many of these US built trucks were used by the French and a smaller number by the US Signal Corps. After the end of WW1 the Baltic states descended into a war with Russia and used numerous British and French trucks. I guess that this is left over from that conflict. Old Bill
A pal of mine has turned up this engine. Said to be a marine engine but of otherwise unknown provenance. Can anyone identify it please? It is a tee-head, is fitted with a clutch and looks to be of great war era to me. Cylinder bore must be around the 3" mark so perhaps a 10hp engine? Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
