  1. Niels v Getting it to the point where you could have it rolling about under its own power has to be good for it , flexing the joints and circulating the fluids and giving you a glimpse of what your work towards , Nice farm buildings as well . All that fresh gravel must have cost you a bit ?
  2. Understood its only been 3 months but as has been said the diaphram is your best suspect , it may have a pin hole or it may have a split if its flexed carefully you may find the fault . If newer pump kits are not available , then its a roll of the dice how long the next nos kit will last .
  3. I agree with the TM8 being the exact match to shade of O.D. paint used by at least the parts suppliers in the 40's as the NOS parts I removed from their original wrappings match that color to the best of my ability to judge it , these being a black out head light , a mirror and mirror support arm .
  4. I must be going blind both wheels or sets of wheels appear in top condition from the angle shown . 14,000 lbs yikes must have had quite a bit of machinery and rigging involved in moving that , are plans to put it indoors or just build a shelter around it ?
  5. TWO complete restorations ? I thought the GPA was a handfull but two incrediable completely rebuilt vehicles outstanding effort , Mark m uk !! You have some good helping hands there.
  6. WOW That a stunning job Mark m uk , thats got to be even better than when that rolled of the production line 60 plus years ago !! Out standing workman ship and attention to detail . How many people were working on this restoration ? How much time does the video span ? On completion will it be driven both land and water or will it be going to a museum ?
  7. agreed it had to have been used for a base of a building the remaining wood blocks would have been the cross beams for the flooring and the concrete blocks likely the enterance steps or corner blocks for the same building as out lined by the missing grass , perhaps the original hut or structure was smaller and then enlarged hence the corner blocks ?
  8. By using so many clamps on the towing leaf spring doesnt that remove the reason for a spring in that I m guessing is built to have some flex to cusion the push pull action of the towed load ? Would nt it make the spring so rigid that it just as well be a solid cross bar .
  9. Welcome Don282 , not to worry about being to wordy it goes with the Green affiction cant be helped or cured . Sound like you have had your hands full doing a complete restoration on that Diamond T , Nice You have been able to keep it from the scrape man so another generation will be able to see and hear a fin old Historic Military vehicle .
  10. Welcome to the friendliest forum on the web Fine looking vehicles you have the honor of driving. I m very partial to the CCKW 353 h1 , whats the first 3 or four numbers of its serial ?

    Lady be Good

I had written a book review on this but I guess it was lost in one of the crashs , I ll have the isbn # 0-8306-8624-x . A number of items from this aircraft on at the Wright Patterson Museum in Ohio, I have a couple of photo's from there but not the best , One of the original Aircrew is still missing They beleive his body may lay in an area some unknown number of miles to the north of the wreak site in a sand sea trackless and uninhabitible , I dont recall the miles they walked but a couple of the crew managed to walk something like 90 + miles in 130 f degree temps with only a canteen cap of water per man per day , and with no water , food or shelter for several of their final days , these details came from a diary keep by one of them
  13. Wonderful images , cant decide which one would be the best for a screen saver !!
  14. Thanks Ole bill quite a bit of fluid ! Will the new stuff be any where near as thick as the old or was the old extra thick due mostly to its age and not just due to what was originally spec. in the cases?
  15. How many gallons of lubricants etc are going to be required to fill all but the fuel tank ?
  16. While a good idea in general but I m thinking of the poor mechanic or driver trying to fix things that happens to be Color Blind he would still have to trace each wire regardless . No short cuts with the bands.
  17. This was/is Jacks goal just like in the movie "The Great Escape" with a twist ....If even one Veteran feels remembered see's their actions have been recalled then WE have done our job . How many more had a simular response to the events sights and sounds of that Glorious weekend ? I hope it was a positive memory maker for them as well .
  18. I dont know if the damage is common but it can happen if the operator useds too coarse a media and too high a pressure its possible to warp thin gauge metal panels and depending on how rusted or thinned by corrosion to make a panel look like swiss cheese . I d think if you get a name or two from others who have hired someone and been pleased with the results you should be ok . imo
  19. Not a one man job thats certainly clear ! I can understand why something like that would likely need the help of a couple of mechanically skilled friends to carry out properly and safely.
  20. Interesting combo. You'll have to post just how good the steaks turn out when you have them . Hope you will have a good en .
  21. Few pics pretty happy with it apart from the ripped canvas which I knew about when I bid on the vehicle. I wouldn't mind a few suggestions on how to get it registered V55 , MOT'd? While it may not hold long in traffic at least while its parked you could use a bit of duct tape to keep the rain out for a little while until you can get a new tilt .
  22. Something that should have a sticky and or put in a Forum folder
  23. What a dirty deal they pressured you to save them selves , No one should be put in that place .Guess that only applies in a perfect world and not the one We live in .
