  1. I think I read that they were sending an aircraft carrier to spain as well as several destroyers to pick up people?
  2. WOW , that have made a few people sweat until it was rendered safe.
  3. so your saying that the family that restores together stayes together ? Sounds like it might be true.
  4. Heres the story on Nellie , interesting person http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nellie_Bly
  5. Showing RAF Steel bodied Cargo truck, I always like the fact that these are trucks, because it pisses on the bonfires of those unthinking people who decry the use of the word Truck, and who say "Truck is an American term, we have lorries in England." Sorry IT'S a TRUCK. A first class trivia question !! Although I dont think We on this side of the pond have ever labeled a Vehicle a Lorrie , its nice to know someone over there was will to give the vehicle a proper title :cool2:
  6. Quite a Beast ! Looking foreward to the reports on how it all works and preforms !
  7. Welcome Jason , I m sure that any number of the fellow collectors and various mechanical types here would be able to answer your questions gladly in exchange to "test" drive any of those HMV's . :cool2::-D
  8. Very Good John , I was wondering if you have several helpers on just yourself as it seemed a lot of heavy work for just one person . Then the question in my mind was along the lines of I wonder what sequence things will more in, if you were doing more drive line or cab or other as I have no idea of budget if you had a time line planned . Thank you for the update .
  9. this a is the Nobar one that is only to be used with a torque wrench to set nut and bolts to a set value , by using the tool to multiply only by a factor of 5:1 , not the same thing as the first tool I listed the youtube clip for that is made just to loosen stuck lug nuts Something went wrong...
  10. I ve not seen the workings under the hood of a GAZ so please post away .
  11. Thank YOU both for the information . It does look like a tough unit , I dont care for the spare being mounted there , it would seem that in a front end crash it would to take out the radiator all to quickly and or block the air flow but perhaps I m being overly critical .
  12. Very Nice , what was the temp that day , everyone seems to be bundled up ? . What is the vehicle parked between the white Land Rover and the light weight Land Rover... the one with the spare in the front ?
  13. Are you doing this by yourself ? looking darn good , Wont be long then till you have the rest of the brakes done at that rate , whats the long range order of things going to be .... for example transmission then engine then ?????
  14. Yes I ve seen the walking dog unit very quick and responsive to being shoved and very quick in motion like a four pogo stick legged unit . While it can carry itself this shows a more stable 6 legged unit while slow, may be capable of faster motion someday and carry a load of some kind . The rate this system has improved who knows just how far it may go . In another area of experimentation , they have been working to create a portable self contained powered human exo-skeleton unit that would allow a single person to lift hundreds or a thousand lbs or more with a fraction of the effort so far those systems still need a truck or trailer mounted hydralic and electric power unit and from what I saw are stationary .
  15. The ratio of these units is 60:1 so 40ft lbs torque in is 2400 ft lbs torque out . yes they are slow you need 60 rotations of the input shaft to get 1 rotation of the output shaft as he used the tool he only gave it 16 turns on the first nut then 24 last nut 23 ....if that wont budge the lug nut only a very large air driven impact wrench might loosen it or either tool would likely snap of the stud. I cant , pardon yes I can imagine someone having the misfortune to find some either cross threaded and or hopelessly rusted lug nuts but that should be the exception.
  16. I m not connected with this company in anyway just found the tool and thought it could help others out , I know I ve had a fun time when I was doing tire changing on my GMC of needing to jump on the bar , The only note would be to make sure your rotating the drive in the correct direction for MV's that have studs threaded differently depending on the side of the vehicle your working on . On any youtube clip if you click on the youtube logo in the lower right corner it will take you to the clip as hosted on youtube and you see the listed information by the person who put the clip on youtube . Something went wrong... UK clip Something went wrong...
  17. It has happened to others true enough , be it a basketball player getting hooked on the basket ball hoop while doing a slam dunk or others who have found electrical work in its different forms as in working on vehicle wiring or in junction boxes in buildings that volts and jewelry dont mix I ve even heard of machinests getting into trouble. Glad your injury wasnt any worse for you or having to cut the rings off .
  18. Be careful with that medicine :cool2:......too much and you will not be feeling all that well for a while longer :-X
  19. Thanks eddy8man for the link it gives the spec's of the unit , very good information .
  20. They have made a number of improvements in this technology going from a cable supported indoor test unit to a free moving multiterrain machine . You just know the military has to be thinking of ways to put this ability to work . True tracks and wheels are faster and simplier one always explores what could be the next evolution in locomotion . Something went wrong... Something went wrong...
  21. They are a great vehicle , easy to operate , easy on fuel , comfortable ride when operated properly and abundant parts aside from the body at least over here .
