  1. If he was a Yank in disguise he'd probably be creased up over the name "Trojan"! :-) Andy
  2. Thanks Iain - that makes sense from what was originally connected to the D Box. Andy
  3. If you just want the User Manual, try eBay. There was a seller on there recently selling a consolidated set of Clansman User Manuals (including the antennas etc.) for around £25 IIRC. Andy
  4. Brilliant - well done, Paul! Andy
  5. On investigation (and for the benefit of posterity) although the Abbot "D" Box has a twelve pin connector, it is fed by a six-core cable and only four of those cores are actually connected. Looking at the Clansman harness pinout I think I can get a CB2 working on intercom only with six cores (Pins C, D, E, M, P & S) so I've changed the connector for a normal Clansman harness plug. Not the easiest thing to do in a very confined space with little slack on the cable! Andy
  6. Do you have any photos of the offending connectors? I spent quite a while looking for the very heavy duty main battery connectors for the Abbot rectifier which were originally made by AB connectors, but I eventually found a firm in Andover who still manufacture them. Andy
  7. That looks like Nic's Stolly in the background and I gather he brought his latest toy along as well! :-) Andy
  8. Thanks Iain - I guessed you'd be one to respond! I'd forgotten about the WS19 group even though I joined them some time ago so I've asked for L782 which I think is what I need. I suppose I could argue that I don't really need to know the original pinout as I'm just using the cable cores but it would be useful to at least identify the power ones. A small batch of Abbots were completely converted to Clansman late in life as opposed to the more common arrangement of Larkspur harness with a Clansman PRC352. Those Abbots were also BATES equipped and can be easily distinguished by the presence of the barrel MVMD radar. From examination of one I've studied they reused the existing Larkspur harness cables and I'm attempting the same exercise. Unfortunately the relevant EMER is completely elusive. Andy
  9. Does anyone have, or can point me to, a pin-out for the 12-pin connectors used between Larkspur harness boxes? I need to run some Clansman signals up a Larkspur cable and could do with knowing what pin does what. A Google search has proved fruitless. Thanks in advance! Andy
  10. Are these standard Clansman antenna rods? There are plenty on eBay in decent nick if so. Andy
  11. This is what Trakmark looks like (the reverse side of one of my remade Abbot panels): Andy
  12. They should measure about 180 ohms at room temperature but they quite often go open circuit. The K60 in the FV430 uses two, one for the engine and one for the gearbox, both of which I suspect are the same as the B-Series one. Andy
  13. I think there's a good chance they may fit the FV430s, too. Andy
  14. OK, so now we know it can do neutral turns - wonderful. But does anyone else think that "Merthyr Tydfil, the New Home of Fighting Vehicles for the British Army" sounds like something from Monty Python? :-) Andy
  15. If you want to plumb in the civilian radio so that it appears as an A or B set you'll have to connect it to the IB2 or IB3, whichever you have fitted. If it's just receiving (or an MP3 player) that's not too difficult but if it needs to transmit it gets a lot more complicated - there's an explanation here: http://www.vmarsmanuals.co.uk/newsletter_articles/clansman_interface.pdf One of my "projects in waiting" is a Bluetooth to Clansman adaptor for MP3 players or 'phones etc. I've got all the bits, just need to find the time! Andy

  17. This is what my Abbot has on it: Not cheap, but their website shows a man using it to spray ocean-going cargo vessels! Andy
  18. The Foden seems to have an "E" registration, so 1967 or later? Andy
  19. Yes, thanks Robin - I'm now investigating a couple of offers for wooden ones. Andy
  20. I'm assuming you're in the UK although you haven't said so? There's an FV436 currently for sale on Milweb in case you haven't seen it? Andy
