  1. Not just a silica gel packet that hadn't been removed, perhaps? Andy
  2. It always used to amuse me that our strategic missile submarines run on Russian bearings ... Andy
  3. It will be interesting to see what they do, Clive! Andy
  4. I think you'll find that a number of current AESPs still refer back to EMERs; the parts of Bulldogs that are common to the original FV432s are a case in point. Andy
  5. For info, they were also used on FV430s and probably a lot of other vehicles too - aka "The Commander's Briefcase"! Andy
  6. FV430 track is 700kg per side, so I'd suggest something rather less than that, if it helps. Andy
  7. You'd better check with your insurer - you'll definitely need cover for third party liabilities. Andy
  8. This is a complete minefield, if you excuse the pun. Much depends on whether or not the site where the photography takes place is public or not, and also whether there are any contractual arrangements with the photographer. That makes it impossible to make any sweeping generalisations, each case is different. Note also that in order to publish or use the photographs you need usage rights, which aren't the same thing as Copyright. Andy
  9. Is the 1kV being applied to the device or is it generating it? Andy
  10. Strangely enough, whilst driving down the A31 near Canford Bottom this morning I saw a car with a very similar covering, although it might have been Astroturf! I didn't have time to take a proper look once I'd picked my jaw up off the floor ... Andy
  11. Before I start trawling eBay, would anyone have a spare cable for the Clansman monopole (washing line) antenna? This is the cable that connects to the antenna itself, with a C-type (I think) at one end and a BNC the other. Andy

    Bletchley park

The National Museum of Computing is also worth a visit. It's a shame the two halves of the site seem to be engaged in a civil war with each other. Andy
  13. It does indeed look identical to the FV430 alternator connector, albeit with one pole missing: I think it's NSN5935-99-804-4642, FV585068. I don't have a spare, but another FV430 owner may have one? Andy
  14. At first glance that looks identical to the alternator plug used by all the FV430s. I'll check later on. Andy
  15. All I can say is that despite what you may read in the press, this possibility has already been considered. Andy
  16. I hope they had the requisite Sterling SMGs without magazines - I remember being highly amused when I saw the first Star Wars film at the cinema! Andy
  17. It's actually narrower than a Chieftain. And what's the "3 mile range" mean? Andy
  18. It might be worth a chat with the Explosion museum in Gosport, they've got several Bofors, albeit naval variants. Andy
  19. That's better - thanks for letting us know. Andy
  20. If you're using ANR headsets, ensure that you have green coloured pressels (the "press to speak thing") as ANR headsets don't work with the older black pressels. Andy
  21. Looks like they get the vote, then! Andy
