Robert Farrant Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I've been sorting out old photos and came across these two shots from the first Beltring show. I believe that the GS wagon was on loan from the Royal Corps of Transport, with Whitbread supplying the horsepower. Quote
Richard Farrant Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hasn't changed much has it. :-D In those days the whole show was on the area now used for stalls. That included the arena.........and there was still space ! Quote
rambo1969 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I reckon it will be quiet next year, the IMPS have to pay to go next year. Quote

Mark Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 2010 is the last year they receive any money from the show as per the agreement with War and Peace Quote
rambo1969 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Hope thier new show goes well. If I have to pay £50 to go to W+P next year, me and the boy's won't be going. Quote
Tony B Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Is it just me or are the 'established' shows running out of steam? Quote
rambo1969 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Is it just me or are the 'established' shows running out of steam? I think you could be right there. I just think people won't pay £50 to attend a MV show. Quote
Tony B Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 No chance!! We don't take the vehicles, all the organiser has is a great big empty feild. Quote

Richard Farrant Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Robert do you have any other pics?. I was there that year. Mark, Robert has been having telephone line problems, so may not be able to reply for a bit. Have you any photos from those early years? I think the total entry was around 200 in those days. Quote
Robert Farrant Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Hi Mark, These are the only prints that I can find from that show, I probably lost the rest in a couple of house moves, but I may still have some negatives. I will wait for another wet weekend to hunt through the files. Quote
Lord Burley Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I will try and dig up some photos. I have them some where. People i do remember in attendance that year was Roger Jones=Pinky. Steve Wright=Pinky Bernie Slater=Dodge Weapons carrier. Eddy Slater= Jeepster. Trevor Boreham=LtWt. Tony Graves Diamond T. Does that ring any bells. Quote

Robert and I used to camp with Rog at most shows, Steve was never far away. Bumped into Bernie at Odessey last year. Not heard of Trevor for years. Quote
nuttydon Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I have to say that I happily pay the camping fee - It is one of my holidays and so its for a whole week. With loos, showers and entertainment thrown in. If its a choice between camping in the New Forest, Butlins or W&P then the green stuff wins (W&P that is ) Besides compared to the £180 plus its costs me to get there it is very small beer. . . Now talking of beer they could reduce their bar tariff at night . . . . Quote
MARTIN CROSS Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Hi We took our DUKW to the first one. I remember a searchlight! From little acorns..................... M Quote

antar Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I visited the first Beltring show to pick up 2 Antar cluch plates off Peter Gain who had a stall their. I recall that there was an FWD SU-COE in attendance. I then continued on to visit Hardwicks yard in Ewell, South London to view an Antar trailer. I was their this year with the M578 Tracked Armoured Recovery Crane. Quote
