Does your Diesel vehicle comply with the LEZ after 3rd January 2012?? after that date I can no longer go within the M25 which starts 1/4 mile from my house. Even Fire Engines & Ambulances are not exempt.

We are a vehicle hire firm and the vehicle was hired out under a hire agreement on the date of contravention. The hirer signed a statement of liability for any resulting Penalty Charges.

Mitigation and discretion

Add that to the fact a friend of mine has turned inside out to make sure a vehicle complys only to be told Officilay by TFL. Your excise number is not on our list so the vehicle dosen't exist!

Thats because the Ferret has a petrol engine, it only relates to diesels.

What's happening in 2018? are they extending it to petrol engines then?

The first time that you take your non compliant vehicle into the LEZ Zone and it is clocked by a camera you will receive a letter from the Mayor.

 

From the date of that letter you can use the vehicle as often at you wish for 28 Days then the curtain will fall for ever.

 

Also thought the Mayor says there are no plans to extend the scheme it is a good bet that in 2015 when the new Euro 6 comes in that the LEZ will tighten to Euro 5 for trucks and Euro 4 for everything else.

 

It is best to assume that, if you drive in the Zone you will be caught unless you know where the cameras are and can avoid them also watch out for little Smart cars with cameras in them.

 

Most diesels can be converted but the cost is phenomenal.

 

Agricultural vehicles are exempt, so are any Petrol vehicle.

 

There is quite a problem with Land Rover Defenders some are exempt and others not it all depends on the tax class. If you own a 4x4 or van check its status.

To me this is the beginning of the end for private use of commercial vehicles in London for now and everywhere else in due course & it doesn't seem fair

What fuel does it say it uses on the V5? maybe that's incorrect like my Fox, on the Fox V5 it says Heavy Oil, tried to get the DVLA to correct this & change it to Petrol but they say they need an engineers report to say that the engine has been changed to a petrol engine. Told them it's the same engine as when registered, same engine number & their records are wrong but they are not having it.

 

They also had it down as White, managed to change this & have the weight down as 20,000kg, almost 14,000kg over what it actualy weighs, again they won't change unless I provide a weighbridge certificate. I asked them for a copy of the original registration documentation but they say they do not keep copies. Suprised Jon never noticed the errors when he registered it.

I think that It will apply to all buses.

 

This is another nonsense I understand that buses are expected to last 20 or more years. Making them needing to be changed every 6 can only mean one thing bus fares will have to go up.

 

I read somewhere that an HST train per passenger kilometre gives out more pollution than driving in a car. But most of these are over 40 years old? and spend loads of time sitting at stations at idle.

If you go on the TfL website and do a search for 2018, it comes up with all sorts of things that are planned up to that date, nothing regarding vehicles that we do not know already. My guess is that there are no policies in the pipeline after 2018 at this point, so therefore it is a blanket answer on the registration search. Think you are reading too much into it.

Virtually all HST power cards have now been re-engined with much more modern designs. Also control systems allow fuel to one bank of cylinders to be cut off on idle. I can't comment on the current emissions but presumably lower than the origional engines from the 1970's.

The only London Military show that may be affected is the Dymans hall airfield, site of Essex MVT Military & flying machines August event is which just inside the Low emission zone, depends if there are LEZ cameras covering Aveley road, it could affect owners of post 1972 diesel vehicles, Landrovers, Bedfords, Fodens, plus civvy campervans, vans, pick ups, minibus and transporters that don't have a euro 3 compliant engines, or euro 4/5 for larger trucks

Biggin Hill airfield is also in the zone, so that will affect the airshow, also Bromley pageant of motoring and the Enfield classic car show

...also the HCVS London-Brighton run, in terms of both transporters and the exhibits themselves. Other Major London shows affected will include the New Year's Day parade, Lord Mayor's Show etc.

Just been in contact with the Dymans hall Essex MVT event organiser and apparently the site is right on the border of the zone and in fact has an entrance from outside the zone so all is ok with the event, no restrictions on non complient vehicles attending

Good news for Damyns Hall. Mind you, it wouldn't have cost too big a bomb to have hired a big low loader for a few days and have it loading up on the highway just outside the zone and shuttling stuff into the site - Plod would soon get hacked off with the traffic chaos and wave the environmentally obnoxious entrants (by that I mean the vehicles....) straight on in :cool2::cool2::cool2:
