  1. On military vehicles the narrow piece you need is permanantly attached to the vehicle side, its about 6 inches wide. Very easy to make and attach using a strip of steel to rivet , See Austin k9 radio Bedford rl workshop ect.
  2. Yes the bike is wd. from 1917 douglas only built for the army until the end of the war. see picture in my gallery page
  3. I always just start up let it idle and watch for oil returning to tank before topping up. If you did not drain the pump it should have enough oil in the pipes and pump to get it all moving.
  4. Normally OK to fit one size smaller but never fit a size larger or you will get a crease which will rub and burst

  11. the one in the photo is correct for a 16h it has a clamp bracket that passes under the frame. they are all the same inside. AO services do a solid state regulator that fits inside the origanal casing that is more efficant also by cutting a small link wire it can be converted from 6v to12v. the dynamo is capable of charging 12v this is what i have done to my matchless the battery box has 2 gel batteries inside and with a led rear bulb and small halogen headlight i can use it at night and still charge the battery. and it looks original

    milweb

It costs nothing to advertise on milweb for non traders, so chancers put vehicles on there for stupid prices hoping someone with more money than sense will buy.
  17. These were a common accessory in the sixties. When I worked at Aston Martin they were an optional extra. Green goddess were fitted with an imersion heater in the bottom hose but most were disconnected later. A lot of civvi fire engines were fitted with them, good on the old petrol engines instant starting no need to warm up, they had a quick release plug on the rear so you just drove away and it unplugged.
  18. In Germany we were issued new Bedford MKs in nice shiny deep bronze green. They went straight into the service bay where they were roughly masked up and sprayed NATO green matt, windscreen rubbers ect were painted along with bits of tyre ect. Then the black was painted by hand. 2 a day was quite normal. The only signage was a union flag, div signs and tyre pressures. You never see a restored one like that because that would not be 'authentic'.
  19. I have a 1918 Douglas dispatch riders motorcycle built for WD. More than likely more motorcycles survive than all other ww1 vehicles together
  20. I supplied the 2 caravans used at this event. nice to see they ended up giving enjoyment to so many people, better than the viking funeral that would have been there fate.
  21. A replica of one of these was at Bletchley Park for about a year around about 1996. dont know where it went. I think it belonged to the submarine trust.
