  1. M1 near J25, heading north today.
  2. If that's a real photo, I'd say it's foolhardy in the extreme!
  3. https://www.facebook.com/pages/British-Empire-Uniforms-1939-1943/365555366788383 Lots of images of British Empire tropical kit.

    DO 17 raising

Older model, it's a Dornier 17Z that's just been raised. After conservation, it'll probably look a bit like the Ju87 in Sinsheim. Pulled out of the Med.
  5. Hippo or Militant it was. I think it's number plate was DSP or DSF something.
  6. About 8am, a gorgeous, shiney lorry on the A17 heading towards Newark. Not much good at ID-ing these, but looked like a Matador with an extra axle & on steroids! Mint!
  7. Doubtless anything militarilly sensitive, especially of the electronics variety, would have been removed, along with any armaments, looks like she only had a trio of Vulcan Phalanx & a pair of 20mm. The Turks could use her as a helicopter carrier, but that's about it.

    DO 17 raising

    Bf 109E-3 1190, ex-Bf109E-4/N, ex-4/JG 26 "White 4", White 4 @ Duxford December 2011 by Nicholas1963, on Flickr
  9. It's a way around evilbay's robbery fees. Not a practice I either do or like, but understandable. Ultimately, were the P&P charges more than what were said?

    DO 17 raising

Looking at the sonar image, not only are the engines there, but the props are too. Its state of preservation will depend on how long it's been covered by the sand. Do you criticise the likes of Amac for his efforts in restoring a Loyd Carrier, arguably from a far worse state than this Dornier?
  11. Bomb disposal guys? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/nick-nice-cando-bomb-disposal-officer-always-cool-in-the-face-of-danger-767455.html "was appointed MBE for (his family guessed) his work in disposing of a dangerous cache of First World War mustard gas found at Bramley, the old Army School of Ammunition near Basingstoke" As to whether any would comment, as it may be covered by the OSA?
  12. Plus that, his family history's a thing to bear in mind! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flick_family Pappa Flick was captured when caught in flagrento delecto with a 16yo lass.
  13. It was restored to run. Herr Flick is, sadly, one of those secretive collectors, who rarely shows his toys. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548534 http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=140923&start=255 Flick's Panther is another one built under REME auspicies.

It's only one of two, known, surviving Dorniers, a Battle of Britain combat veteran, an important historical artefact. When it's recovered, it'll be the only one displayed anywhere in the world, as the other survivor (A 215 B-5 nightfighter) is in a Dutch seal sanctuary.
  15. I think that's beyond salvation!
  16. That front end's familiar.<br>I'm sure somebody, either here on over on the Landships forum, posted a photo of a chassis & bonnet of it, taken at Duxford, in outside storage?
  17. Christ on a push-bike! Dafter than some of the mountain bike vids I've seen!
  18. Any of the owners of historic planes will do it, the various Duxford-based ones for starters.
  19. Maybe worth getting it stove enamelled? If you've a "real" bikeshop near you, they'd be happy to advise.
