  1. A bunch of movies by a recovery group in Russia, on this one look at the condition of the machine gun and amo cases that come out of the tank.
  2. Isn't it time to Stampe out this silliness?
  3. .....Did I say that out loud?
  4. Did the blue one reside near an industrial estate just outside Redhill? As I believe I drooled over it one day when visiting a nearby motor factors....
  5. Mrs rog's dads next door neighbor bought a used Hillman avenger many years ago, the drivers side window was partly jammed so he decided to investigate. He took the inner panel off and found that the door was packed with something "suspicious". It turns out that the car had both doors packed with explosives, the car was investigated insitu and found to have no detonators fitted so the military carted it away, the owner was asked if he wanted the car back, he declined.
  6. 3 minute news item http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20886684
  7. It always intrigues me how these old chassis keep turning up... Always dreaming that I might find something similar in my travels. Keep us updated with any progress won't you?....with pictures of course;).
  8. Is the liner possibly the Ile de France?
  9. I still cannot think of a reason why everything went at the same time, but I have a few ideas that might help. Though not marked on the wiring diagram I am sure I have seen a dimmer switch for the dash lights on series 3's which, if fitted, would be a good candidate for dash light failure, otherwise the switch either of which you can bypass to check. Check your temp gauge by earthing the green blue wire, you can do that under the bonnet by taking it off the temp sensor and clipping it to the metalwork, gauge should head for hot. As you say the choke light is off I would have the steering column shroud off and check the connections at the back of the fuse box, give them all a good wiggle, especially the link between 5 & 7. The last thing....as your land rover is ex-mil the wiring could be totally different to the wiring diagram. :undecided:
  10. A device for warning of an anchor being dragged?:undecided:
  11. Hopefully uploaded the correct file for circuit diagram of the Ser 3. Over the years landrovers get lots of rewiring bodges which make these kind of faults hard to track down, if you look at all the bits that no longer work on the wiring diagram there is no obvious single point to look at. You say the temp gauge has stopped working but I assume that the fuel gauge still works? For that I would look for a loose connection as the fuel gauge supply comes from the same wire as the temp gauge. I would have the steering wheel off, the dash panel off and carefully check for loose connections and probe for volts in the relevant areas. S3_petrol_alternator[1].pdf
  12. Jeep. square wheeled on the roundabout above J3 of the M3 this afternoon.:-(
  13. Hit by a bomb from above:-(, I have seen that before, never realised it was a pacific war incident as it has been shown in a European theater context.
  14. It is one of those trucks that, if you don't know why it looks like it does, could be confused with something much older, more old fashioned....if you see what I mean? Anyway, very nice.
  15. Welcome indeed! You do realise that we will want to see pictures...please!
  16. Wow, it is looking fabulous, this is a thread I always look too for updates, keep up the good work!
  17. Exactly how I was shown to do it as a sprog, use the oxy-acetylene torch without the oxy to soot black the core dowel for easy removal.
  18. Nice project, looking forward to progress reports. Did you reverse the real kettenkrad photo by any chance?
  19. Not looking much further ahead to be honest, so many projects so little time. Land rover rebuilt and sold... now have another project vehicle that is taking my time. I have a lot of time off owing to me at the moment, catch up time...or at least that is the hope!
  20. About time the dust was knocked off this thread... no info on this, just a random web find.
  21. is the 13th one a sea fury maybe? (miss powder puff) Not too convinced about the one on the gate with the servicemen though.......what about a zero cow?
  22. I have always considered series landies as being multi seat tractors...(without exception I have owned diesels), My last I described as a series 2 1/2 as like so many it had been mucked about with over its long career. Every one I have had has been someone elses project that was never completed so lots to keep me occupied. What I had most recently looked like a series 3 with the chassis engine and gearbox of a series 2A, I loved working on it and, eventually, driving it. Sadly mrs rog didn't like driving it and as her company car goes back soon I had to sell the landie to get a daily drive for her. I Still have the number plate so WHEN I get my next one, as I surely will, it will have to be a 1963 model to match the number plate!
  23. post more pici's once you get the roof on, nice project....one that has been a pipe dream of mine as well:-\
  24. I wonder if they overflew the Derwent and Howden dams while they were in the neighborhood?
