  1. I didn't think of the possibility that it was British, I assumed the photo was American...turns out, with a bit of googling the drainpipe is French!
  2. Picture 3/10 interesting vehicle in the background, I thought at first it was an autocar but it looks like it is a three wheeler of some kind.
  3. Ah, that had me confused for a moment, sorry FEC my "PM sent" post was directed at Hoseman from the previous page, typical "didn't notice next page when I replied" moment on my part :-D
  4. I have to agree, I have since found it in another photo set that is titled "fairground 1984 to 1990" so that brackets it pretty well.
  5. From the mail headline Nobody says whether the tank had been deactivated.......
  6. I know what you mean showmen don't usually get it quite so wrong, and yes I found details on a forum that confirm a Gardner conversion
  7. Do you know when these were taken? I have come across a couple of 2011 photo's that show it looking much better than this (search numberplate in Google)
  8. it looks like Andrea has not logged on since 08-Feb-2013 09:04 I would try a Google search see if he pops up somewhere else. (was tryping as Marmite was posting ) *EDIT* Here you go, about half way down the page. http://www.willys-mb.co.uk/ Includes phone number and e-mail addy
  9. Further to my comments about fair ground vehicles on the AEC armoured car thread, Mrs rog started a new job this month somewhere in deepest Berkshire. I went along today for a look at her workplace and noticed, over the top of the nearby fence, the top of a typical showmans trailor load... then a bit further along a locked mesh gate revealed three two axled trailors all tarped up in a line....then I recognised the clerestory roof of a nice old living wagon. On the way out I turned left ... by mistake... and came across Chassis cab mammoth major Atkinson 3 axle gennie truck Foden, ex gritter at a guess, waltzer load Turns out mrs rog works next door to the winter quarters of a well known show family, I need to get some introductions as an invite to that yard would be my idea of heaven:angel:
  10. I applaud that decision, chances are its showland life was longer than its military one. My love of classic trucks stems from finding that "all the fun of the fair" was to be found around the generating plant rather than on the rides and stalls. I look forward to seeing how your project progresses.
  11. Southbound on the M3 this afternoon, 2 drops, one of which appeared to be a Foden (I pulled off the motorway when in between them) both were loaded with high lift fork loaders, both were pulling trailors that sloped in towards the top, gennie sets maybe?
  12. I have to say that silver soldering is my favorite method of joining metals, it is just so satisfying when the flux turns liquid, the metal gets the perfect glow then just a touch of the SS rod and the join line changes to gold...... Nice work you are doing, I always look forward to updates here...

    Airshow 197?

I remember a TV news item, many years ago, about joint radar exercises in the USA where the Yanks were tracking Buccaneers of the fleet air arm...or should I say trying to track them over the desert. The radar operators gave up as the buc's were being flown so low and fast they could not lock on. Once they gave up trying, they went outside to watch the display instead. Went looking and found this... so RAF not FAA ......
  14. salt water generator...for generating a few volts, not sea water. :-D
  15. As I have lost track of previous answers I will just suggest a rectifier.
  16. We (the British) used to make some beautiful heavy vehicles, case in point above, what a looker!
  17. Superpoise? that's my guess
  18. They seem to produce reactalite cloth...when I first got my Gaz 69 the canvas was nearer to the colour of the 4 door, 18 months later it was almost white. photo shows around a year in.
  19. I am struggling for a picture but I believe the bus is an [h=2]AEC Regal 10T10 Single Deck[/h]
  20. Hi, welcome...just so you know, we love to see pictures:D
