  1. It would be with all that rubbish on it.........
  2. I agree Robin, it should be mandatory for all new members to give their location.
  3. The ITN news this evening had two reporters, one in London and the other in Western Supermare standing in the pouring rain, no hats, one had it dripping off his nose. How stupid are these people..................?
  4. We had a look in Bart Vanderveens book and it is there on page 190, a Commer Q4 with an 'Insulated house type body, equipped for radar equipment repair'. As Richard says in does not look the part, and I am pleased with it.
  5. Its disappointment first, CS8 not won and pleasure with the purchase of the Retriever.
  6. Here is the 1933 Leyland Retriever still on the Brimec so not had a chance to drive it yet. Seems OK and starts easy, I find out that it was advertised on Milweb a few months ago but ended up in the auction. I am in need of a Hand Book, a copy would do, its just the information on the vehicle that I need. Also there are seven new tyres but no actual wheel on the spare, so if any one can assist I would be grateful. More pics when I get in on the ground. They do look good don't they......
  7. I went to an auction at Castle Combe Race Circuit on Saturday 19th Oct to try and buy this 1939 CS8 that had been converted to a breakdown truck. However the bidding was against me and it went out of my reach. I was not aware, as I had no catalogue that another interesting wagon was in the sale, so I bid on that and it is in my yard now, photo to follow.
  8. What Tillotson says is verbatim from his review in the Times Saturday Review June 29 2013. I have no desire to plough through this book, if there is one error then there will be others in my experience. Anyone got the book so we can read what Atkinson actually wrote ?
  9. I get old copies of the Times sent to me and came across this book review. The Guns at Last Light by Rick Atkinson (an American I believe) the review is by Michael Tillotson. In it Mr Tillotson states ......the Sherman duplex drive swimming tanks, critical to the first hour on the D Day beaches had to be shipped back to the States for conversion to amphibians----a task beyond British industry. I find this statement incredible and without evidence a slur. What do others think about this as I have never heard of it.
  10. That is real history, not some ones interpretation of the facts. Also a 34 mile road test, as in on the roads of Merry England......
  11. I have enjoyed them ! The Cromwell seems to be getting better with use......Thanks for posting Shaun.
  12. That statement is intriguing, have you a story to tell because I have......
  13. That is the attitude I like to hear, fall down, get up and carry on.........from one who very nearly drowned, together with my wife, when tipped into Windermere.
  14. Being ex cavalry, are you going to add a little colour to what would overwise be an unseemly forum ?
  15. I think that would be a good idea.
  16. Thanks Andy for this. Just up my street as I am and have been interested in the Great War for over 50 years
  17. Yahoo News ! There are so many inaccuracies in this piece, have a look yourselves and spot them. Quite dreadful standard of journalism.
  18. The SMG; incorrect weapon handling, the magazine should not be held by the left hand, the left hand should support the weapon under the barrel.
  19. The 1930 version of All Quiet on the Western Front, very realistic battle scenes and using genuine kit no doubt as it was made only ten years after the Great War. I saw it first 'at the pictures' in Wigan one afternoon in 1960..........
  20. Larry, I would think that answers and opinions regarding the burial of remains is likely to be found on the Great War Forum.
  21. Yes I know where these are as well. There are other choice items at another location owned by the same chap, very difficult to deal with as he is/was not bothered about selling them. I did try to make a purchase...........
  22. No replies.................how strange as they are very educational and interesting, thanks for posting them Graham.
  23. Was all this done without any heat ? have you now got all the track you need ?
  24. They certainly are not........What an awful parody of an iconic tank.
