  1. They certainly are not........What an awful parody of an iconic tank.
  2. They are 'corkscrew pickets' from the Great War. Originaly they would be screwed in to the ground and the barbed wire strung from the loops formed onto the upright section. The news report is to be doubted in that they were to rip open the German landing craft or the tracks from the tanks. Likely just part of a barbed wire obstacle on the beach.
  3. It is the remains of a Coles crane, They were fitted with AEC automotive parts, the crane is not built on a Militant.
  4. It was 'The Floating Light', my maternal Grandma and Grandad stayed there on their honeymoon c. 1926.
  5. No John I didn't Rick drove it on and that was that...........Artic driver parked in the gate area so stopping anyone leaving or coming in. No one has done that before, had trouble with this character over a other matter concerning a delivery of a Scorpion in the mid 1990's. I remember him........
  6. This is Rick setting off to W&P at 3.30pm on Monday, he should be there by now.......
  7. I also noticed your hands, as you get further into your training with the aircraft properly trimmed then you can fly 'hands off', for a while of course. Try to complete your course as soon as you can as if you have gaps in training you will sometimes have to learn certain aspects of it again. Money and bad weather is the cause...............
  8. Yes Andy I was there on the Saturday in it when it did a circuit, Alec James was the apprentice driver and he did quite well.
  9. As regards applying hand brakes; Some years ago, late 1980's when the activities at Bovington was held at Gallows Hill there was an incident concerning me. A Grizzly had been parked up on a slight slope where the public could come a have a close up look and talk to the tank crews. Suddenly I noticed that the Grizzly started to roll forward, quickly I sprinted forward, dropped into the drivers seat and brought it to a halt. The owner of this who I cannot remember (are you reading this sir ?) stormed across and remonstrated with me for being in his tank ! This person had without doubt failed to leave his tank with brakes applied and in so doing had endangered the public.
  10. The Irishman came to see it by taxi at about 6pm, it was then dark, and he err....how do I say this, he fell out of the taxi where as a sober fellow would not. After blundering about with a torch he said he would have it at the asking price so he was or keen or.......
  11. Outside there was a PAK 75, I sandblasted and sprayed it for them FOC in c.1983 because of the then enthusiasem that I had. What became to this gun ?
  12. I owned two LCVP's in the late 1990's, they came from Southall Middlesex. The best was sold to an Irishman to service an island off the north west coast of Southern Ireland. Seems a bit of a co-incidence ? I will be away at Tankfest until next week but I will try to find some photographs.
  13. Adrian, Can you contact Rick about this lot as he is the paymaster on this project. Thanks Bob
  14. All I can say is do NOT believe a newspaper report.......
  15. Propaganda aimed at ? By who? The sentiment came across that the people of Belfast only wanted peace.......
  16. Black is a very neutral colour, as is white or course, but day glo yellow and American head wear.......no.
  17. Now I am not one for dressing up but I do think that hi-vz clothing and base ball hats for the crew of an AFV detracts somewhat on the photos........
  18. If there had been a 'wide mesh' guard over the tunnel where the prop is would that have prevented the tyre getting fouled with the prop. Or being a landlubber am I wrong ?
  19. I thought that a PIAT was a spigot morter. That is the bomb is projected by a spring, how is that classified as a fire arm ? Don't jump on me, I am only asking!
  20. That was very good, thanks for posting
  21. Yes it is Roy, The tank was called 'Maine' a B Squadron tank of Ist Northants Yeomanry and Mr Grundy is taking the photograph....
  22. I would like to report that today, Sunday 19th May 2013, at approximatly 1500 hours that the person known as AshtonPete succesfully moved the A27M Cromwell a distance of 18 inches forwards and 12inches to the rear.
