  1. The Churchill having parts removed, Mr Riley and Mr Peet
  2. Poorly written blurb about it, probably for the uneducated and lower orders...........

  4. I read the Telegraph article and the proposals will now only cost the country £18 million, how fortunate we all are....
  5. A friend has a large quantity of parts for vehicles of the 1960's 70's & 80's. They all have a Nato Stock Number and a name such as say......SWITCH or SEAL etc. Is there any method by way of finding out as to what actual veicle they fit ?
  6. Great photo Rick, anymore info as to when and where ?
  7. Yes you have a point there, however shortening the war by 6 months ? No I will never concede that whatsoever.....
  8. I have just heard on the BBC Regional News (North West) that the raid by the 'Cockelshell Heros' operation Frankton shortened the war by 6 months. This was attributed to Churchill, one merchant ship sunk and four damaged, this using only a modicom of intelegence is totaly absurd. The raid was absolutly insignificent in its damage to the German capacity to wage war. I am of course not denigrating those brave fellows who did their very best. I will make some more enquries as to the quote from Churchill, if indeed he actally said it at all.
  9. Skull; Just think of the outrage and much use of that new word 'unaceptable' if a vehicle with a real skull was photographed in Afganistan today.......
  10. Adrian; Mine was in the second batch, No 7 tank. You could go down to Southampton docks and pick one that you wanted, then pay £7,500, arrange transport and then say when you got it home "What have I done!" Mine conked out going through the gate because those P..........people had fitted a fuel line out through the sponson over the track that worked on gravity only. Going down the slope to the gate the petrol had run forwards away from the pipe, it was raining and dark and I slipped off the side to have my coat caught on a projection that hung me on the side with feet off the ground, what a start to tank ownership.........
  11. It was the Pork and Beans (Great War slang) who chopped off the barrels and chucked them inside the turret causing some slight damage.
  12. Another photo from late 1988 which shows a M4A1 Grizzly, the Canadian produced Sherman. I believe, but not sure that this was removed for preservation/restoration. Anyone got the full story ?
  13. Well said. However if I made comments then the post would be deleted by the Mods as in the past..........
  14. This could be Mr Riley inspecting a M44 Howitzer on Sennybridge Ranges during November or December 1988.
  15. Would you have a caption/location for the photo that has the wagon No 35739 on please ?
  16. Thanks Richard, that spare wheel cover/ramp looks like one from a Hippo.
  17. Some time ago there was a reference in a magazine to a 1950's Commer Gun Tractor based on the Q4. I believe that they were produced on a limited scale and that there is only one preserved. My information is that it was in the north of England at one time, early 1990's ? There was a metal toy produced based on it as well. Has anyone further information ?
  18. Peter I think it would be 1994/95........ This one may have gone to Stan Serr of 5 Star Military in California, note that I say 'may'.
  19. Are you supposed to be winding the none existant engine ?
