sirhc Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 It's been there for a while, very rusty! Quote
GoranWC51 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Closeups of the hull. Rusty, perhaps, but I've seen worse.... Quote
Great War truck Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 One of the Instow DUKW's. I understand that the remainder are due to go to Withams soon. The last of the WW2 MV's still in service with the military in this country at least? Quote

fv1609 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 What a super clip. I remember some years ago metal detecting at Crow Point in my own little world with headphones on suddenly confronted by one of these. It came ashore directly in front of me sped along the beach then back into the water obviously much quicker travelling on land than against the tide! Unfortunately before the era of phones with cameras. Quote
wally dugan Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 l was told that one of the instow DUKWs is heading for the RLC MUSEUM by a member of the staff Quote
lozzaboy Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I take it the DUKW has some advantages over a Stalwart to of been kept on for so long instead of using Stalwarts? Quote
Duncan76 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 l was told that one of the instow DUKWs is heading for the RLC MUSEUM by a member of the staff If you follow the RLC Museum's Facebook feed, their DUKW has already arrived and has been displayed! https://www.facebook.com/RoyalLogisticCorpsMuseum/photos/pb.164993333400.-2207520000.1442695604./10152996254618401/?type=3&theater Quote
ruxy Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Scroll down for DUKW (+ free publicity for Withams) http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/want-buy-tank-check-out-6477133 Quote
paulbrook Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Let's hope that the RLC Museum vehicle collection fares better than the post-Beverley RCT vehicle collection then. Quote
Sean N Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 If you follow the RLC Museum's Facebook feed, their DUKW has already arrived and has been displayed! Is that really their entire collection in the second photo? Can't help feeling what's happened to the Beverley collection, and the (lack of) effort behind building a worthy collection of the military's transport history, is pretty scandalous, particularly when compared with, say, the RAF or Tank museums, of even the RE and REME efforts. The DUKW in the Mirror article doesn't appear to be the same one as the stripped one in the auction images. Quote
