If the vehicle is pre 1960 then yes it will have to be tested as the exemption only covers vehicles used unladen, if built between 1960 and 1974 then it would have to be tested anyway but Historic tax class can still be applied. Post 1974 it will have to be tested and taxed private heavy goods (if over 3500kgs) A living van not exceeding 3500kgs is also exempt from testing and plating
  2. Correct, the E part of the licence is trailer, it doesnt matter how its attached to the towing vehicle

Have had fire engines in the past and have returned to the fold It will go very nicely with my 1963 S2 land Rover new to Westmorland and the Dodge Type A water tender my brother owns All ex Westmorland machines!! In fact the Dodge and the Leyland served together at Windermere (Did you get your verification certificate OK?)

  5. Pete I dont know!! It was used at a Butlins camp in North Wales as a toy and then disposed of................. so it could be the one Am picking the appliance up on Sunday and I know there is a large history file so we will see Chris
  6. I think we should remember that these tour Ducks (yes I know how I have spelt it!!) bear very little resemblence to a wartime DUKW so direct comparisons cant be made The only thing that may be original is the propellor!!

It was sold by Westmorland Fire Brigade in the 1960's and spent some time at a Butlins holiday camp in North Wales as a kids plaything It was rescued by a guy from Cornwall (now sadly passed away) from Wales and restored in the 1980's so it could very well be Dont suppose you have any pictures (a long shot I know!!)
  8. The K9 has part time 4WD for definate Dont thnik though you can have high ratio 4x4 (as per Land Rover) When the transfer box is in low four wheel drive engaged The Morris equivalent though AFAIK had the facility for high ratio 4X4 but this was normally blanked off in the military version
  9. Ok I know its not military but it did spend the war in the AFS in Liverpool Its a 1940 Leyland FK8 and is now mine :-D Delivered new to Windermere in 1940 commandered by the AFS and returned to Windemere after the war

  12. There was a 1/35th scale MW produced about 15 years ago. It was vac formed and produced byTonda in Czechoslovakia' Cat number is T cs 1007. Not aeroscreen though. I have one here but have never built it. Maybe open to offers!!

  14. I suppose in the real world although anything carried could be construed as a load and therefore the vehicle is not unladen it would be up to a judge to decide
  15. Exactly......................unladen means not carrying goods for hire and reward (providing date of manufacture is stated as pre 1960) CAT B licence
  16. Not sure its a Dennis, could be a Bedford, both carried that type of Miles bodywork
  17. Yes, but as a field car with soft roof and no doors (I think)
