    New home..

I hope the picture answers the question! They had AFS on the doors and the legend "property of the Home Office" above n/side front wheel. If anybody wants to delve deeper into the AFS fleet can I suggest a book called the Green Machine, published in the earlier 90's. It listed all the registration numbers of all the AFS fleet and as much history as the authorscould find, remeber that when it was written a lot of vehicles were still in store.
  7. The HCVC has been looking into the CPC situation along with FBVC and MVT but it appears to be a right and left hand comunication failure. One thing is for sure it won't favour enthusiasts. Phil. (Cynical old b......!) Phil There is no confusion regarding driver CPC. If you do not intend to drive vocationally (for a living) there is no requirement for the holder of an LGV to have a driver CPC. The CPC training will be recorded on a card and will have to be produced to a prospective employer if you went for a driving job. If you have a current LGV you will get a driver CPC under grandfather rights. This will last 5 years, if in that time you do not attend the periodic training then you will lose the driver CPC and the right to use your licence vocationally you will however still have an LGV licence.
  8. Chaps Driver CPC is only required if you are going to use your vocational licence to earn a living i.e drive LGV's for payment. There are exemptions for those people that will only use their licence for personal reasons (horse boxes is the obvious one) and for people who driving is not their main occupation (scaffolders builders etc). The fact that you have a driver CPC will be recoded both with the DSA and on yet another plastic card with a chip on it. The regulations state that the driver must receive 35hours of training in 5 years (7 hours a year). All those with an existing vocational licence will get under "grandfather" rights a CPC that lasts for 5 years. If that individual does not attend the required training in the next 5 years (September 2014) then he/she will lose their driver CPC and will forgo the right to use their licence to earn a living. I am sure that given the above driving schools will split the training into driving and CPC and run course in both not run them concurrently. Just another point about driver CPC it in no way reflects the CPC that you would need to run a haulage concern, the driver CPC syllabus covers such things as loading/unloading, safe and fuel efficient driving, transport workplace safety etc. It is also an attendance only course with no test or assessment at the end of it. Hope this clears up driver CPC
  9. Point taken (no pun intended!!) I came to the conclusion that the spark was too powerful ( it would jump between an inch and two inches) when you look at the thickness of bakelite between the copper on the top of rotor arm and earth (the spindle of the distibutor)the spark will seek out any weakness. I would go through rotor arms in 50 miles!! As I said I wouldnt touch the system again. I also found out (an expensive lesson) that the module didnt have any reverse polarity protection and a mistake in the wiring blew the module
  10. I fitted the system to my Morris CS8. No end of problems with it burning out rotor arms and coils. I think that the spark was to powerfull for old rotor arms. Ended up buying any rotor arm that would fit!!! In the end after yet another breakdown converted it back to points.........no further problems!!!! Wouldnt touch the system with a bargepole for older vehicles, just get the original system well maintained, just my experience you understand
