  1. Construction and Use and lighting regs would make this clear Surprised though that they wernt fitted by the military Hasnt really got a lot to do with the DVLA though
  2. Nice model!!!! Good progress with it.....................looks harder than the real thing!!
  3. Interesting The MVT have carried out quite a few verifications since the DVLA local offices closed. I have heard nothing about delays as above for first registrations (in fact I think that a Diamond T was registered more or less by return) Unless you know different..................................................................................... It may be in the case above the DVLA are being particularly careful to ensure there is no funny business going on
  4. IAm sure the inspector acted in good faith when he dated the vehicle. He would also take a lead of the owner as regards the date of manufacture. If the vehicle was in your ownership then perhaps you should have done the research first and discussed this at the time of inspection. I cannot comment on the actual detail of this verification as I was not verification officer then.
  5. I am sure the MVT only went on the evidence provided at the time of the inspection. They do not have definitive lists of build dates. You will need a dating cetificate from a relevant club to register the vehicle. The DVLA will not accept anything else for first registration. They may accept other evidence to amend a date on the V5 Dont forget you will have to follow the NOVA process before you try to register it.
  6. Not quite true The MVT does not have local verification officers just a national one If you are a member of the MVT go to the MVT website and follow the verification tab The service is free for members and cost £40 plus VAT for non members ( it does however cost only £30 to join!!) The only documentation the DVLA will require is a V55/5 proof of identity a fee and the dating certificate from the club (If the vehicle is imported then you will need to make sure you have vnotified HMRC through the NOVA scheme.......HMRC website has the details)
  7. Certainly did!!! I believe it was something to do with the "quills" in the final drive Still looking for video!!!
  8. Gigantic used to reside in Cambridgeshire and was well known on the circuit around there At Weeting rally in around 85/86 the owner was challenged to a tug of war by the Army with a Chieftain tank The outcome was that the front of the traction engine reared up (the the tank crew wanted to win and had it in gear!!) and the front axle dropped out and ended up under the belly tanks Cue much arm waving and yellow coats I seem to think that Steve Neville had just had a go with the Burrell road loco Duke of Kent and won! I have some video somewhere.................must dig it out!!
  9. Is that the Mac that used to be known as Gantitic or minigantic named after the full size Mc laren that was Gigantic??
  10. Strange.......Johnson gaskets have just done a head gasket for my Leyland light six
  11. That is ugly!!!! But deserves saving, wouldnt mind it myself but I am in the mdidle of restoring a 1940 Leyland
  12. There is a picture in the new book British Military Vehicle of WW1 of LGOC Btypes being repainted,, the caption states the paint is Sevice Colour (as seen on a tin in the picture) apparently this is a shade of "muddy green" Not very scientific!!!
  13. Tony Surely you mean you cant drive a vehicle with an ABS fault at all ??? In my world if VOSA pulled a truck with even an orange ABS light they could potentially issue a PG9 (maybe a delayed one but still a PG9)
  14. Tom Couldnt agree more!!! Mine arrived an hour ago and all thoughts of work have gone away Simply Stunning!!!!!!!
  15. Mine ordered tonight Cant wait............and only 999 going to be printed Bet this one will be a collectors book in future yeas
  16. Fantastic news. If it will make an ideal companion to British Trucks ofWW2. Well done
  17. A good idea to show off what recovery vehicels are for However as already alluded to the rigging time will probably outweigh the general publics Wow!! factor A tank can just charge around and look impressive!! As has been said a set piece display of righting a vehicle is impressive but to be done safely takes time to set up and does that time justify the end? I dont know!!
  18. Suggest you send a note to the editor of Windscreen for inclusion in the greensheet and Windscreen
  19. I refer you to the comments regarding the Diamond T that has just been registered No request for NOVA form If you read the whole thread regarding the Bedford there seems to be no problem if the vehicle is pre 1973
  20. The bike is British, presumably not imported therefore why get HMRC involved?? The verification cert will show country of manufacture as UK,presumably you have the contract number which would prove its British anyway
  21. Generally if the vehicle is British manufacture then the NOVA form is not required The verification letter will state country of manufacture, if that is United Kingdom then no problems. We have just verified a Diamond T 980 and it has been registered with no problem. The verification letter explained that the although the vehicle was USA manufatured it was supplied under lend lease to the UK. The DVLA accepted this
  22. No need for an MOT at registration Providing the bike is pre 1960 its exempt MOT
  23. Quite true Go to the MVT website and follow the verification tab, complete the online form and away we go. Just a note there is no charge for the service if you are an MVT member, however the Inspector can claim a mileage/travel allowance for the visit. You will need a form V55/5 to complete the registration and some other documents (these are outlined in the covering letter that will accompany your dating cert) and then send off to DVLA Swansea MVT Verification Officer
  24. The MVT can provide a dating letter Visit MVT.org.uk and follow the verification tab
  25. Not useless info at all...........? Wecome aboard
