  1. I was looking through some pictures earlier from over the course of 2012 and look what I stumbled across Scott
  2. That was my next question. Got to agree it does look like a Foden.
  3. As others have said, I think you'll be fine. Can't really remember anything which would upset you as a parent or your 10-year-old son.
  4. Unfortunately I didn't have time to get down to the town centre due to one reason and another. Thanks for posting up the pictures and hopefully you will be back once again next year!
  5. I'd have to agree with you guys, I enjoyed it but certainly not the best one ever IMHO. Quite a lengthy one as well.
  6. Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I hadn't heard of that museum before so googled what they have on offer. Certainly looks like a good place and they have a Gipsy as well :-D
  7. Is that an Albion CX22S I spy to the left of the photo? Great pics, hopefully you manage to find more.
  8. I watched it on the news as well Rosie, although I was out of my bed and just finishing my cup of tea
  9. An interesting find, I wonder what the message will be once it's been deciphered: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20164591
  10. The sad thing is they probably have no idea of what the museum is portraying and what the money they stole was intended for. Hopefully they can be caught and taught a lesson.
  11. Probably heading to the barracks on Birdcage Walk Rosie. I saw a number behind the fence when I was in the capital the other week.
  12. The trouble is,younger drivers, like myself, get tarnished with the same statement as above. My renewal price went up this year despite having an extra year no claims and experience on the road (seven years now). Not all 20 something's are boyracers. I see plenty of the older generation breaking the speed limit up and down the land most times I go out on the road.
  13. Damn it, should have covered my back with "Of course it might already pictured in the thread"
  14. Not a problem. This is one which I have been unable to photograph before. Was this the one which was for sale on milweb? I'm sure someone will be along in due course to answer your other questions. Scott
  15. In answer to your first question on QL's if you check out the Bedford QL gallery here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?26331-WW2-BEDFORD-QL-Gallery&highlight=bedford you will be able to see quite a few examples that still exist in the UK. In fact I uploaded 15 photo's of vehicles from the past three years from throughout the UK that are no doubt still around. Also it would be great to see some pictures of your QLR, it may have already been pictured though in the above thread. Scott
  16. Looks like a cracking journey, thanks for sharing your pictures and story.
  17. Excellent! Some different vehicles in attendance that is for sure.
  18. Nice pictures Joris, thanks for sharing them. Is this an annual event?
  19. Hadn't been to Goodwood before so hadn't seen the below before: Also one of the many aircraft that buzzed around on the day:
  20. Have you got this one? Was at Goodwood yesterday for an event and took a snap of this one on my phone.
  21. I'm sure someone over at http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/ will be able to help you out Jack. A number of members on that forum do Then & Now shots so hopefully they can help you out. Scott
  22. My dad is down south at the moment and he said he saw a load described just like the above heading down the M25 last night. I thought it might of been you, as he said it was the same vehicles that we saw together at Denmead. We both wondered where you had been though and now the question is answered!

    Gipsy

Good question! Following trials at FVRDE some 20 examples, five LWB and 15 SWB's, were ordered for troop trials by the MOD. These were heavily modifed from the normal Gipsy, with a longer chassis, an extra fuel tank and other smaller items such as military lights and a NATO hitch and socket being added. Little is known of what trials they underwent, although one LWB was dropped onto the dockside at Swansea Docks when being loaded, smashing the rear axle in the process. No one really knows what happened to the other 19, although it's believed they went to North Africa at some point. An exact number of how many are left to this day is hard to say, although it is believed that just one LWB and seven SWB's still exist, although only one of each version are in their original condition. An interesting find anyway and another which I can add to my Gipsy spotted list :-D
  24. Some really good informative articles coming to light here. I had heard about the accident but didn't realise it involved Wynn's.
