  1. Humber Staff Car (I think, the rain was that bad I could hardly see the car ahead of me yet alone on the other side of the road!) on the A34 by Oxford.
  2. Thanks for that Nick. Certainly looked the part. Scott
  3. Hi Nick, the Commer is a Q4 Bikini Unit and it would have originally looked like the one on the following links: http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p716470258/h64EF4C2#h64ef4c2 Thanks for the extra information. From what I heard on the tannoy he said he saved it from being scrapped in February this year; don't know if you or Brooky can confirm this? Scott
  4. Noticed that there was one of these Bowser's at Elvington behind one of the shed's last weekend:
  5. Driving home from Smallwood I remembered some months ago hearing about old military planes/helicopters being broken on the site of what was Hixon airfield. This is what you can see from the road:
  6. Another good show, even though as has perhaps already been mentioned that vehicle numbers may have been slightly down. Excellent weather on the Saturday added to a great atmosphere around the site.
  7. Had a lovely day on the Sunday at Smallwood, hadn't been for a couple of years to it clashing with other shows. It was good to see a strong military section amongst others, whilst it was nice to meet up with friends both new and old. A couple more from me to add to Ray's above:
  8. We stopped at the campsite at Martragny in 2009, a greatplace and I would recommend it to all. Make sure you take a walk out of theback gate and across the road as there is a memorial to a fighter base whichwas located in the fields just behind the campsite following the invasion. Some pics of the site:
  9. Welcome onboard, if people don't have the answers on HMVF then you might be able to find some information by posting your question on here http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/ Both HMVF and ww2talk are very informative forums and no doubt someone will be able to help you out. Scott
  10. Might pop up on the Sunday, albeit only as a member of public as the Gipsy petrol tank is playing up again
  11. Hoping the weather stays like it has been today as really looking forward to this show once again. Will no doubt still be a little chilly on the airfield despite the sun
  12. That's the only bit I like about the bad weather, it makes for good shots at the end of the day! A couple more here with another tractor and a steamer helping out:
  13. It dried up a little on the Sunday, but it was still damp and overcast for most of the day. Of the vehicles missing were three Martian's which I'm sure you would have been interested in Simon. Scott
  14. Nice to speak to you at Belvoir Castle this weekend Duncan Scott
  15. :-D thanks Mark, I was going to ask if you had a picture of the Land Rover that was peaking out of one of the pictures and there we go! Scott
  16. Been back a couple of hours now from our annual trip to Belvoir Castle, this year it was a wet, grey and cold weekend in complete contrast to 2011. I think the weather in the past few weeks has certainly affected numbers at shows with some sections being down. There were certainly missing vehicles in the military section from the advertised list in the programme, but as I say this wasn't the only area that was affected. A taster of some of the military vehicles: The ground conditions certainly made for some interesting pictures and even though a good majority aren't military vehicles hopefully they will be of interest.
  17. Thanks for the pictures Mark. Despite this event only being about 15/20 miles from me I haven't had chance to go in its first two years as it clashes with Belvoir Castle Steam Show (pictures to follow shortly). Looks like a similar turnout to last year and hopefully one year I might be able to get to find out for myself!
  18. Nice pictures Mike, always like to see some from shows that I can't get to.
  19. Excellent job Howard, it's amazing what a difference those belly boxes make to the back of the body as the other day it looked a little weird when it had first been fitted.
  20. There was a story on the above in a Wheels & Tracks magazine when it was first discovered. Then there was an article in CMV the other month on the finished vehicle as it is today.
  21. Great use of the old body, really looks the part on the back of the truck.
  22. It looks as if it sits outside for most of the year, can't be good for it. Thought it may have been better to buy not such a smart vehicle and restore as they wish to suit their spec.
  23. That looks fantastic, must bring a great smile to your face!
  24. Saw this some month's ago. Shame they couldn't have used a vehicle that hasn't seemingly been lovingly restored like this one though. Last saw it in 2007 at War & Peace:
  25. Thanks for posting the pictures up. Great to see that thevehicles inside the hanger are now easier to see as last time I went (justchecked and it was in 2006 - can't believe it was that long ago!) they weresomewhat difficult to see in their positions. “The Camel” has also been painted in a new colour scheme.
