  1. Hi John, Interested to hear about your engine problems, because i am half way through rebuilding ours. If it helps i have a set of white metal main bearings for sale. All the best, Richard
  2. Thats brilliant news. Do you know where it will serve as a monument. Looks a bit too good to be a monument, can't it be restored to running? Great stuff anyway, Richard
  3. How much engine, drivetrain and bodywork do these Chevs share with GMC CCKWs? if any Cheers, Richard
  4. Hello all, Does anyone have any dry, secure storage/workshop they can offer for our Scammell Pioneer in the Yeovil/Crewkerne area of Somerset, pleeeeeease? Thanks in advance, Richard
  5. I'm guessing this Eric Kauffmann chap isn't short of a bob or two. Anyone know what he does?
  6. There seems to still be quite a bit of WW2 armour about unrestored, if you know where to look and the current owners are prepared to part with it.
  7. Wow, never heard of that. Got any pics? Is that Hixon as in where ALE are now based? Richard (Ex ALE)
  8. I use etch primer on everything, sticks like s*@t on a blanket. Although i use the Tetrosyl product. Good luck, Richard
  9. That is stunning, one of my favourite aircraft. I've been following this resto and Glyn Powells work for a while but didn't realise it was so far along. Looking forward to seeing it fly. Richard
  10. Thats good news, we considered having her, but decided we had enough on at the moment. Glad someone saved her, she was for sale for ages. All the best finishing her off Klaas. Richard
  11. Instead of the block of wood, better off putting a trolley jack under the back of the engine, that way you've got a bit of up and down adjustment, handy for realigning things. Richard
  12. Veeeeery nice . Has it still got the petrol engine? Richard
  13. Sam Winer's M6 in its current state Wish i had a few quid to save her. Richard
  14. Found an awesome looking show in Czech Republic: http://www.bahna.eu/ Can't tell much from the website, not being fluent in Czech but it looks pretty good and theres some good looking vids on youtube. Another possibility for a forum trip. Richard
  15. Did you make a whole new bulk head from scratch? Looks very nice. All the best, Richard
  16. I had always assumed cab interiors were painted whatever the vehicle exterior was, thats i was going to do with our Scammell and Matador anyway. I'd have thought given the very open nature of Matador and in particular Scammell cabs painting them anything else would be a bit of a camoflage faux pas. True the duck egg or "odeneal" engine colour is post war. Sorry i can't help anymore, but will be interested in what others have to say. All the best, Richard
  17. Here here. Yes, i certainly will sign up, about time these ba%*^&ds started doing what we want not what they think is best, they are our elected servants after all. I'm getting on a roll here in case you hadn't noticed, lol. Richard
  18. True it seems most of this won't affect us as military vehicles enthusiasts, but i think we still need to take heed. Legislation like this has been expected for a long time, and this will only be the thin end of the wedge, before we know it all vehicles more than 10 years old will be taken away for scrap!!. What gets me with all this is why our government goes along with it. what's to stop our government putting two fingers up to european law that we don't like? if they had the balls that is. Can you all imagine how many poeple are employed in vehicle modifying and restoration, who will all be out of jobs when laws like this gather pace? Aren't the government supposed to be helping British industry and small businesses in these difficult times, instead of putting up more red tape? I feel the need for a motorway blockade coming on Richard
  19. Liked what i presume was a centaur dozer at W&P. Does anyone know who it belongs to and if there are any plans to bring it back to life? Be great to see it doing its thing. Richard
  20. Think you've got it pretty well covered. I think the main thing to look at when it fires is the oil pressure to make sure it comes up. Good luck, Richard
