  2. I'm pretty sure i remember these being advertised in Wheels & Tracks
  3. I've been recommended these people by Jim Clark of Sherman and M4 HST fame: http://www.autosparks.co.uk/ They look to have a very comprehensive range. Richard
  4. Been reassembling the air compressor. Had to make all new studs (except head studs) for it since some heavy handed REME mechanic had stretched all the threads. Got new oil seals but the O/D is smaller than the original so will have to turn up sleeves to take up the difference, and i'm making all new gaskets for it. Also i've used a part which might be of interest to other restorers, a thing called a speedi sleeve. They are made by SKF and are used where an oil seal has worn a groove in a shaft, the sleeve fits tightly over the shaft, has a cylindrically ground O/D thus providing a new surface for the oil seal to bear upon. They are available in many standard sizes metric and imperial. I have the SKF catalogue on pdf giving all the sizes available, if anyone wants it PM me your email address. The speedi sleeve Guts of the compressor Speedi sleeve in position Trial assembly of mounting bracket to finally position the sleeve on the shaft Richard
  5. Did you ask your dad about your stainless silencer? Cheers, Richard
  6. While looking up specs on M18 bolts i found this website: http://m18hellcat.com/m18hellcat/Home.html Pretty good site, with a time elapse picture film of the resto. Richard
  7. Ha, not its not but i like it. I recently had my MV recognition software upgraded to version 2.0. I wouldn't rely on me for any surgical services tho. We need to see the HST on a rogers behind the Diamond now.
  8. brilliant. looking forward to seeing this one unfold
  9. Dribble...........looks great Adrian. Bet that V8 sounds good too. Do i spy a Diamond T in one of your sheds? Richard
  10. I like your stainless silencer, im planning on making one of those. Did you reproduce the double layer skin of the original? Richard
  11. Haha. "Found" a Comet - as you do. All the best with the resto, looks like you've got a got amount of work ahead of you. Richard
  12. Looking great Jim, looking forward to seeing it at A&E. Richard
  13. Ours is all bolted. Dash board bolts to the supports, and supports bolted to cab front panel.
  14. Blimey they keep cropping up don't they. Is that the one parked behind the M4A2 on milweb? All the very best of luck with it. I'm a tad jealous. Richard
  15. The M6 also appears to have had its tracks removed and dumped on top between your two visits. What with that and the removal of the air filters, rads etc it seems that slow and steady dismantling it in order unfortunatly.
  16. Yes the M6 has two of the engines used in the M4. I'd like to see some more detail shots of it if you could next time you go down there. I think i saw some M6 track too dumped next to the M4 transmissions, which i believe is peculiar to the vehicle. In my case at least asking prices are totally pointless but i'd be interested none the less in the M4s and the M6. Cheers, Richard
  17. That brought a tear to my eye. What does he plan to do with it all? Is it all to be cut up eventually? Looks like theres a number of M4 HSTs that have already suffered that fate. Why are all those M4s without engines? I understand their ammo boxes are being used to shore a bank somewhere, is that right? Does the M6 have its engines? Oh to have a few quid. Richard
  18. Nothing at the moment. In talks with a few different people about new crank bearings. Found a bloke who thinks he has new thick shell white metal bearings which are like hens teeth! Will update as soon as theres news. Richard
  19. i'll post a pic of this item on its own at the weekend, since my engine is in bits. any other dismantled engine pics you want just shout. Richard
  20. nice work. do you per chance own an oil well or two from which to feed the beast? Looking forward to seeing progress, Richard
  21. We recently finished a total rebuild of our box, just hope after all the effort it works well now, gonna be a while before it gets the acid test tho. For anyone who hasn't seen it you can see the ups and downs of our rebuild at:http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?3975-Scammell-Pioneer-Restoration Richard
