  1. Yeah, exactly what i thought Bernard. At which point i'd pull out these pics, and ask the person in question if they fought in the war. Don't people like that just piss you off. Richard
  2. some brilliant pics there. I've never seen a spare wheel carrier of that pattern before. Might have to knock one of those up for our Scammell Cheers, Richard
  3. Thanks Nick. I'm guessing you're helping Steve with the resto on the R100? The SV/2S he had as a donor vehicle actually donated its gearbox and rear body work to our restoration. All the best, Richard
  4. Gutted! was looking forward to going again. Good job i hadn't booked hotel already.
  5. Yes you're right, with the cab on the engine needs to go in on an angle so far, block it up, re-sling it and lower the rest of the way. The manual has pics and descriptions on how to do this. Do you have one, I have the full workshop manual on pdf if you'd like it. Good luck, Richard
  6. I am intersted in all warbird restos, and the engines in particular, they are such magnificent pieces of engineering, same goes for other interesting engines like Adrians A57 multibank and the Napier Sabre H24. When working on my own projects i always enjoy working on the engines, and would love to work on big aero V12s and radials. Being throughly hacked off in my current job i'm investigating all possible avenues including a career change into working on such beasts, but for now i have the rebuild of the Gardner 6LW out of my Scammell to keep me happy. Richard
  7. Hi Adrian, Yeah i've found a few in the US, but can't find any here. Do you have names of any here? just out of interest really. Thought their websites might prove interesting viewing. Richard
  8. Where do owners of warbirds in the UK send their engines for rebuild, radials, V12s and the like? Richard
  9. Those are the sort of countys where you can get anything in exchange for ££££££, and thats where the lottery comes in. When and if.
  10. Hi Terry, You are in good Scammelling company here. Post some pics when you get it. All the best, Richard

  15. I'm guessing its a brake line fitting? I could turn it up for you, reckon i might have near the right size hex bar in brass too. Have a look at the air fitting i turned up for my Scammell on this page: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?3975-Scammell-Pioneer-Restoration/page3 PM me if you want. Richard
  16. I too live in Bristol and knew nothing of this. Was it the corporate entertainment just south of Bristol? I drove past it about a year ago after a colleague said he had seen some "tanks" in a field while on a bike ride and gave me directions. Richard
  17. That is awesome, it sounds great crying ass shame shes not making it to A&E Richard

  21. Thanks for the pointers guys. I'm guessing the C in Brian C is Carter? If so you know my dad, Dick Fryer, we usually come see you at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. The dip switch you mention, does that mount on the brass mount that forms part of the hand throttle mounting? Has either of yours got it? Could you post a picture? Chris, thanks for sharing your experiences. In particular the bit about the light switch. I found that part of the diagram most strange and was going to pull it apart to work out its inner workings. I'm some way off working on the wiring, but i'l let you all know how i get on. Richard
  22. They do have a rather special "note" don't they Richard
