    keep safe!

Left a Gazzebo out in the garden last night. I think I can fix it with a bit of plastic, a screwdriver and a large sledge hammer.
  2. I was there with my WOA2. I've never been to the show before as it's a fair way to get to for me, but I will go again. Highlights for me were the Lancaster, B17 and the Spitfire. Not a too crowded show and a good atmosphere. Even the Saturday evening music was acceptable. Toilet block was a million miles better than another local show I went to last month. The Road Run to Fords was a bit of a let down, but enjoyable. Perhaps try again? Wartime radio display French Cafe display Luftwaffe planes being checked over My WOA2 back at Ford, where it was built.
  3. I am looking at a WOT6 Maintenance manual and it shows a Torque tube on the rear axle only. Manual dated March 1945.
  4. I have noticed that moving or adding extra side lights was an European thing, and cannot see any Jeeps in the Far East with this mod. Source='The Wartime Jeep in British Service' by Gavin Birch
  5. Here are photos of some headlights of the type I think you need. I have had a good look at them and I cannot find any manufacturer or Military markings, so I think they are civilian tractor units. Before you ask, No they are not for sale. Did British Jeeps have one or two headlights, Yes. It seems to be unofficial and whatever was to hand - it was wartme. Check out wartime photos for details as to what is common. I do not know of any manuals on the installtion and assume this mod was done at unit level with any parts available, hence the use of tractor headlights which could have come from the station's David Brown tractor, for example. Try a classic tractor parts source as these headlights were common in the 1930-50 period. About the best I can do.
  6. I will be there with my WOA2 on Sat and Sun.
  7. If you have one black-out light then it goes on the left or near side and the other mounting should have a cover made of a large washer with a cup square bolt through it. There is a bit in the 1945 workshop manual that says the headlight can be moved to the off side when the vehicle is used on the continent, but I have never seen a photo of this being done. I beleive only one headlight was used as an ecconomy measure later in the war and both my Ford vehicles had only one headlight.
  8. I agree that it is a Camera Gun. Williamson also had a factory in Basingstoke Road, Reading, which is now the Gillette Razor Factory. Williamson also made the Gun Cameras for Spitfires and Hurricanes in WW2.
  9. I agree, but you need one that hangs upside down with the retaining clamp for the mask the other side to the mounting bolt. Butler or Lucas (they look virtually identical but the masks are not interchangeable) is required. To see if it is Butler or Lucas, look for a B or L at the start of the ID stamped on the light and mask.
  10. The lights do turn up at Beaulieu Autojumble in September, which is where I found the side lights for my vehicle. If you go there, be prepared for LOTS of walking and searching, as there are up to 2000 stalls.
  11. I had a wiring loom made up by Autosparks for my Ford WOA2 in 2004. It had the correct colour and style cable for a wartime vehicle and fitted almost without problem. One or 2 ends needed changing, but only a 2 second job. I was very pleased with their product.
  12. Bet they won't stop those kids on bikes and buggys I saw on Saturday. One buggy I saw was being driven by a girl of about 10 years old and her passenger was the same age.
  13. Just looked at my wrist band and seen that it says 'The War & Peace show 20010' Anyone else noticed?
  14. Try a shop in big shopping centre as they tend to have staff who what they are talking about and are more helpful. My Daughter had problems and the shop in Bluewater centre was helpful.
  15. There is an RL Dumper in the John Mould collection near Reading. It's not painted up as Military, but it still has it's Military plates on the body. Saw it last year when I went with an organised visit. Sorry it's a bit fuzzy, the camera was playing up.
  16. Clive Come and see me at W&P and I can give you advice and help about mobile phones. I will be near McArthur gate in Monktons. Robert Davey
  17. My guess would be 1950s/early 1960s as it is an earlier liner. The liner will be dated on one of the 4 straps which also show the size and manufacturer. The helmet itself should be dated where the chin strap is attached to it.
  18. Just to point out - when I was at Beltring on Sunday 11th, I drove through Paddock Wood. Petrol there is 120.9 a litre, and the best I saw within a few miles was 117.9 a litre. Best to make sure you fill up before you get there, as Petrol locally to me in Reading is 113.9 a litre. I think the petrol stations around Beltring know we are coming and are charging accordingly.
  19. Anybody heard anything more about this, or is it cancelled???
  20. Hey, my Tent's still there!! How is the mud???? Just had a look at the Weather charts today. My view is that it is wet (showery) until Friday, but getting better on Saturday. Sunday looks good, and my GUESS is that next week could be nice weather. Update in a few days.
  21. Seem to remember that last year, the loos weren't on-site and open until the first day (Wednesday) of the show as that was when they had been ordered for. Anyone seen any loos on-site yet?
  22. Weather Just looked at the Weather charts and my prediction is WET and Warm for the next 4 days with not much prospect for the weekend. However, this could could change as there are some High pressures in the Atlantic which could move the Low pressures away that are over us causing the wet/warm showery weather. Next week is too far away to see what is happening but I will check later in the week. Summary is Wet and Warm (showers) with sunny intervals until Friday 16th, so knowing Beltring, take Wellingtons and Boots for the mud. At least the WW1 re-enactors will be happy trying to get their trenches authentic. This is my view on the weather based on weather fronts and pressures in the North Atlantic.
  23. I was at Beltring today (Sunday). Set up my tent and roped off enough just enough space for myself and MV, 2 friends with their vehicles and tents and secure space for my Grandaughter to play in. I will arrive there on Saturday or Sunday with my WOA2. Saw a BIG Russian Military truck on the road outside with LR escort.
  24. I'll be there on Sunday 11th setting up about midday. We have to call in at my Daughter's church first, as they are reading the Banns for her wedding in August and the Wife wants to hear it. Carrying on to Beltring afterwards. If you see a Green Ford Focus estate, please say hello.
  25. I have just seen in a local paper that there is a Wings, Wheels, Speed and Steam show at White Waltham airfield, which is near Reading on 14/15 August. They say it is the 4th to have been done, but I haven't heard of it before. Anyone know about the one at White Waltham in Berkshire? I can't go this year as it's my Eldest Daughter's Wedding that weekend, but I thought I might go next year.
