  1. Question - Besides Land-Rover bits, was there anything else there? Any wartime vehicle parts?
  2. Does anyone know who the manufacturer is of a British Jerrycan with RTMP on it? I tried the Jerrycan book, but no luck. Many thanks.
  3. Quick question for you. My youngest daughter Sarah wants to go on my Insurance for my MVs now she is 25. She passed her driving test in 2004 and has a B and B1 on her license. Question is, can she drive my WOT2 on the road? It is 2465KG gross according to my Log Book. The WOA2 is easier as it is just classed as a car. Anyone with the knowledge help me with this question?
  4. Why is it that events clash so much? This Sunday 1st April is a good example. There is a road run to Hastings, a 4X4 autojumble in Newbury, the first local Big car boot sale starts, there is a charity table top sale locally, and it's the Reading half-Marathon which means I cannot get out of my house all morning and Reading is grid-locked. Anyone else found that events you want to go to always seem to be on the same dates?
  5. I saw the film today and agree the front axle is CMP looking at the hubs. Not sure, but I'm thinking it's a Chev axle. Good film, though.
  6. The truck is a Ford WOT6 which was used as a Machinery truck by REME, so I agree it could be a workshop vehicle.
  7. Don't know if you know it but it was because of this incident that Australia refused to give the rites of Court Marshall to the British Army in WW1 and carried out their own court marshalls. Because of this, they didn't carry out the executions for battle fatigue that the British did.
  8. Daz It wasn't you I was criticising, I have heard the BBC News refering to the price of petrol in Gallons not Litres. I see how the rise sounds worse in Gallons. Robert PS. I've told my family that the Metric system stops at my Garage door.
  9. My local corner shop sells Double Sided Tape. Tony, you didn't make a "Christmas Crown", did you?
  10. Anyone here have any experience of a Mechmate Pit in their garage? I was thinking of buing one, but I thought I would ask around first. I saw them at Beaulieu Autojumble and they looked OK.
  11. Just one question - If they sell Petrol in Litres, why is the price rise 16p a Gallon? Wouldn't it be better for the Government to say how much a Litre it is going up?
  12. Heard an aircraft overhead this afternoon and saw a Dakota with D-Day markings flying over.
  13. The man to talk to at Vintage Tyres is Chris Marchant. I keep nagging him to make another batch of 900x13 tyres every time I see him! You could arrange to collect the tyres at the Spring Autojumble in May if the tyres are not that urgent and save carriage.
  14. I need to clean and polish some Brass British Wartime buttons. They are not on the clothing at the moment, so the job might be easier. Does anyone here know an easy way to get a good shine on Brass buttons and also a way to keep the shine? The buttons are to go on a Greatcoat.
  15. Camberley! Not too far from me in Reading. Welcome to the Forum.
  16. I am being taken on Holiday in Romney in Kent on 9-13 April with my Wife, Daughter, Son-in-Law and 2 Grandchildren. Can anone suggest any good places to visit in the area suitable for a WW2 vehicle enthusiast to help keep my sanity? I'm staying in a caravan at Romney Sands park. I know I can get a ride on the RHDR Railway, but I wonder what else there is to do there. Anyone any suggestions, please?
  17. My experience of ebay is that they only worry about the rules they want to.
  18. My Father was in the far east, and in 1946 he came back to the UK for de-mob. The troop train he was on stopped briefly at Reading West station, which was just by where his Mother lived. He dropped 2 kitbags of kit off to the station master and after de-mob, came back and collected them. Unfortunately, all I have left is his bush hat and a packet of Japanese cigarettes as all the rest was disposed of before I came along.
  19. I was asked to verify this vehicle recently for the MVT as it is on my doorstep and all I had to do was check that what he said to the MVT verification officer was correct. I don't know about the MoT and tax exempt, but a phone call to the MVT verification officer would check this. If you are interested in buying the vehicle, PM me for more details. I am not connected with the seller in any way.
  20. It's a trailer 15cwt. 2 wheeled, 180 gallon water tank and it is wartime. I can't save it myself, but there must be someone here to stop it being scrapped.

    Snow 2012

Snowed in Reading today, but it didn't last. Very cold now, 3C and it's 5pm.
  22. I have been trying to log onto the War & Peace website for the last few days to down load an entry form, but I keep getting an error message, "Site not Found". Anyone else getting problems or is their site down or faulty? I have been trying since 2nd-4th March.
  23. Alistair This illustration is different from my WOT2 axle. The roller bearings on the pinion are different. On a WOT2 there is only one bearing surface for the 2 bearings, but your illustration shows 2 cups. Suggest you have a word with someone who has a Ford 7V for help. You could ask Belcher engineering on 01379-898384 Good luck Robert Davey
  24. There is a bearing cup in the differential. It was fitted by heating the differential casing and sliding in the bearing cup. Try heating up the diff casing and pulling. Sorry, can't be more help as I haven't had to replace this bearing on my WOT2.
