  1. This table is at variance with Ford figures. In the book 'Ford at War' published by the Ford Motor Company in 1946, they say the production of WOT2 trucks was 56,616. The WOA2 was made post-war as the WOA2A, production started on the WOA2A in Dec 1945 (Data from Ford Motor Co). Wartime production was 9.00x13 tyres and post-war it was 6.50x16 tyres although wartime production of WOA1A models had 6.50x16 tyres. My WOA2 was made under contract V5000 which was the last major wartime contract and went from late 1943 to early 1944 (don't know the exact dates). I don't know when WOA1 production started, but the WOA2 used the WOA1 chassis and running gear so I presume before WOA2 production started in 1941.
  2. Signed. It could lead to Insurance companies not paying out in a claim if they find a 'Modified' part (I have heard of this happening). My own vehicle has a rebuilt gearbox because I can't get the original gears, and is putting a Radio in a Jeep a modification?
  3. Please Help!!! Either where can I get some or where can I get a pattern? I have a Daughter pestering me as she wants to get some for her husband for Christmas.
  4. I've just been talking to an ex-REME Sergeant who was in Europe 1944-45. I asked about the discs, and he said that the vehicles they had were not filled with Antifreeze and were drained, so could not help with the disc colour. Evidently it was common to drain radiators and lay up cars for the winter in pre-war days, especially Rolls-Royces, Lancias etc. Was Antifreeze a rarity in wartime British vehicles? He also mentioned that the winter of 1944/5 played havoc with engines in Holland with many cracking with frost.
  5. I looked up the Antifreeze section in the Driver's Handbook for my Ford WOA2, dated August 1944. It does mention the painted disc 'in a specific colour' but doesn't mention what colour. It does say, however, that if the antifreeze is lost then the disc must be removed. It does mention about draining the radiator in the event of frost if there is no antifreeze.
  6. If you join the Early Ford V8 club, there are several people there to help source parts and help with the correct bits you need. Try the website http://www.earlyfordv8.co.uk for details.
  7. I do know of another car locally to me and the owner thought it the only one left. His car has no rear body just a chassis and engine.
  8. If that is ZA or ZB then the strap is for a British Radio or Telephone set.
  9. In the last photo is a Ford WOT1 Fire truck - interesting.
  10. It could be a Radio set strap. Any part numbers stamped on it?
  11. As it's a Wartime Vehicle event I would love to get my WOA2 car there, but it's not feasable. Can I still get in with my MVT card? I do have a pass for the Tank Museum as I went there earlier this year.
  12. Try contacting Brian Baxter at the REME Museum at Arborfield. He has a personal interest in Fire Service vehicles and may be able to help.
  13. I went on the Saturday just as visitor, and very much enjoyed the show. The Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane were fantastic and were a joy to see. The re-enactors displays were good and well set out - not too crowded. The show is compact and easy to walk around, even the toilets were clean and pleasant smelling!! Only quibble was the car park - there was no-one directing traffic out or even exit signs, resulting in traffic going the wrong way and causing jams. Looking forward to next year, and hopefully taking a vehicle and staying.
  14. I used to work for Vodafone. If the call was from or to a Mobile, it WILL be traceable by the Police. All the Mobile operators have a section dealing with the Police/Government and they can trace ANY call made on a Mobile and even find out in which cell the call was made from. All depends if they bother or not.....
  15. OK, that means it's someone who knows you and therefore someone in our hobby. Very worrying, and it means they are probably reading this.
  16. Question - That phone call out-of-the-blue. How did they get your phone number?
  17. It has been mentioned on this thread about Trackers. Anyone had any experience with these and how difficult/easy are they to fit to an MV? How effective are they?
  18. Please don't mention cyclists (or bike riders) as they are a major problem where I live - Going through red lights, expecting you to get out of their way on Pavements, wrong way up one-way streets, and if you say one word to them, all you get is abuse back and the Police just ignore it!! OK, rant over.
  19. Great news! There will be a three page special on The War and Peace Show in this Saturday's Independent magazine! Look out for a copy and read all about the biggest and best military vehicle show in the world!! I just had a thumb-trough a copy in Tescos but couldn't see anything - did I miss it?
  20. I'll be there, but as a visitor on the Saturday. I am leaving the Wife at my Daughter's family and spending the day at the show.
  21. I have used Hammerite smooth black on my WOA2, but first the panels were blasted/repaired and then primed before the Hammerite. It then had a couple of coats of matt brown top coat sprayed on. Hammerite was bought because my Daughter had a summer job at Halfords and I used her staff discount. Reason I used Hammerite was that I restored my WOT2 truck and used Bondaprimer before spraying on the matt topcoat. I didn't realise at the time that a gloss coat between them was essential for protection. I now have rust marks coming through and a strip down and respray is called for. Don't forget to 'key' the Hammerite paint before applying the top coat.
  22. It's a gate, not a barrier. Check out the ones in the Nothe Fort, Weymouth.
  23. I was walking through the Living History section and the Paramedics were dealing with a German re-enactor who had collapsed. Can't remember which day it was - could have been Wednesday. Is he OK?
  24. I've seen this set-up in the Nothe Fort in Weymouth.
  25. I have just looked at the W&P website and no photos from the 2012 show there yet. They always were done very quickly. Anyone know what is happening?
