  1. I might have a socket in my garage. I'll have a look today as I need to tidy up in there. By the way, it's a 12 pin socket, not 10.
  2. I beleive All Allied vehicles had a white star from early 1944 ready for D-Day, and there was an order to do this. Not sure of the date but I will try and look it up.

    Ford Pilot

I have heard of the Ford Pilot being used by the Police, but not the Military. It could have been a vehicle sold to the local police force he was using.
  4. Yes, I agree with Jules. It must be the coil starting to fail. If you ignore it, it will only get worse. Try fitting a Lucas DLB100 coil (available from the Green Spark Plug company or from Autojumbles like Beaulieu) and this will cure the problem. I have had the problem before and a new, not an NOS one, is the only cure. Last time I had a coil fail was this year when I went for an MoT and the WOT2 died on me about half a mile from home. On my WOA2, I had the radiator recored when I was restoring it. This still pushes out 2 pints after I have filled it up but doesn't overheat and runs well. It's just a V8 characteristic, don't worry about it. Just keep an eye on the temp gauge during summer months and keep the speed down.

    Ford Pilot

To my knowledge, the Ford Pilot was not used by the British Military. They did make WOA2A utility cars post-war, however.
  6. I have 2 boxes of made up models (about 35) from my youth - the 1960s. They are aircraft, mainly WW2, and Airfix, Revell and Frog. Transfers are coming off as the models were stored in my Mother's basement which we are now clearing. If they are of interest, they are free if you collect them from me in Reading. Need to get rid of them soon, as I am getting swamped with stuff from Mother's house and could really do with getting my Dining room back. I can throw in a WW2 pub glass as well - marked GR.
  7. One thing you will notice about a WOT2. Rain pours in under the windscreen and your left foot gets soaked. However, the heat coming back from the engine soon dries you out. It's like driving a car in summer with the heater and fan on full. Ah, the joys of a WOT2.
  8. The Ford WOT2H was supplied in Green on Brown camouflage by Ford when new, which is the scheme my WOT2 is painted in. You could try plain green as they were frequently repainted this colour in the field.
  9. A WOT2 has a non-pressurised system. If you fill the Radiator, it will push about 2 pints out when you start to drive and then settle down. This is normal. An ex-REME mechanic and Ford V8 expert told me this back when I first had my WOT2 on the road. Also, a WOT2 runs very hot and will overheat. Red line is 180 on the gauge. Solution is to have a good radiator and keep the average speed down to about 45. The faster you go, the hotter a WOT2 gets. Oh yes, never drive a WOT2 with the door tops on and try to not notice the rain coming in under the windscreen.
  10. If you have a passenger seat, please contact me. Robert Davey (woa2)
  11. Yes, that is my WOA2. It was at Basingstoke festival of transport 2011.
  12. Contact me and I'll do what I can. Suggest you join the 'Early Ford V8 club' as the WOT2 does share parts with other Ford products.
  13. The official 1945 Ford manual has a WOT2 at 1ton 17cwt to 1ton 19cwt which as it's a WOT2H, would be the higher weight. This comes out as 1981.29Kg Hope this helps. Please post a picture of the WOT2 as I would be interested to see it.
  14. As the War & Peace area is getting bigger, couldn't they make 2 arenas on the site? Down the bottom of Monktons, for example, so it complies with H&S? How about that new field that has been opened now? It's large enough.
  15. Just a thought - are they .50 cal or 20mm??
  16. The rain must be bad. Thames Water have just announced a lifting of the Hose Pipe Ban from Thursday 14th June!!! I can now wash the dust/mud off from Beltring in July.
  17. I can tell you that the WS 17 was used by the Royal Artillery on gunnery work and used a special aerial system. Try the WS 19 group for details and they should be able to help. Their website is http://www.royalsignals.org.uk/ and if you register with them (it's free) you can download manuals for your own use.
  18. I know the last British LCA boat got cut up at the D-day museum in arromanches but they kept the front of it. They had 2 Ford V8 engines powering them, hence my interest, but were made of plywood so not made to last.
  19. That command post tent looks interesting. Anybody making copies of them yet?
  20. Cold weather bonnet cover for British vehicle? Looks similar to ones I've seen in the past.
  21. Don't forget that the Police can still make you have an MoT (even if it exempt) if they suspect your vehicle is unsafe and then charge you if it fails.
  22. I had a twin tube parabike once and that had patches of Service Brown paint on it. I still have a single tube version in original condition and that is painted in dark green.
  23. Thread is 1/4 UNC on the outside, but I do not know the thread on the inside. The 'bolt' does have a hole through the middle for tyhe oil to return to the inlet manifiold.
  24. I need a part for my Ford WOA2 and after years of searching, I cannot find one, so I have to get one made. The part looks to be easily made by someone who can use a lathe, and it is basically a bolt which can be made out of a piece of hex bar with an internal and external thread and is an inch and a half long. I have a broken example to use as a pattern. If you can help, please contact me, as it is stopping me connecting up my oil cleaner correctly. Many thanks for any advice or help.
  25. I once had a British half ton trailer made in 1945 and I remember this had a rebuild plate on it. Can't tell you any details as I sold it 20 years ago.
