  1. Just a comment. Professional sandblasters re-cycle sand, which you cannot do. Therefore it will cost a fortune in sand as you will only use it once. As for rust, if it is even damp the day you do it, it Will rust as soon as it is done, so paint it quickly, but try and not get sand in the paint. Also, you will need a suit with an air feed to breath (looks like a spaceman suit). I tried to sandblast some stuff myself once, gave up very quickly and used a professional. Much less hassle and a much better finish.
  2. I'm going with my Ford WOA2 utility car. It's only about 5 miles from home!!
  3. I had a discussion over this with a Jeep owner some years ago, and they showed me a photo in the Ford GPW maintenance manual which showed a Willys chassis to prove the point. I heard afterwards that Ford hadn't got the supply of chassis in operation and used Willys chassis for the very early production. It will have a GPW chassis number, as my fellow Forum member stated earlier.
  4. It's a 40mm Bofors Ammunition box. I had one until January this year when I sold it.
  5. Try this http://www.metric-conversions.org/weight/pounds-to-kilograms.htm
  6. I worked in IT at a Farmers co-operative once. They had trouble with a keyboard on a PC. I took it apart and half-a-pound of grain fell out!! Clive - This is true. You can get clear plastic covers like moulded Condoms for keyboards for severe enviromental environments.
  7. Many thanks for this. The audience are Modellers so the Wolf and Mutt are most welcome. I will contact you nearer the time to give you directons and details.
  8. There is a Military Model event at the REME Museum at Arborfield on Sunday 14th April. They have requested some full-size Military vehicles to attend. The show is from 11am to 3pm, so arrival is 10:30. If you can help, please PM me for details as I am co-ordinating this aspect of the show. Many thanks. Robert Davey
  9. For a British 62 set, 1945 onwards. Should be in a webbing bag. You are missing the ropes to secure it and the pegs with the hammer.
  10. Is it the same as my Ford? A Fram C30 filter element?
  11. There was something about these Spitfires in an Aircraft magazine about 12 months ago - must have been Flypast or Airplane. I seem to remember that a chap had recovered a couple and was making a cockpit and engine from them. Sorry, can't be any more help.
  12. There is to be a Military and Transport themed model show at the REME Museum, Arborfield, Berks RG2 9NH on Sunday 14th April 2013, starting at 11am and ending at 3pm. The show is open to land, sea and air displays, and will include models from the Museum's own collection. This is a family friendly event, suitable for enthusiasts and those with a passing interest. Normal entry price to the Museum applies but that is all, and the Museum's excellent Cafe will be open. If you wish to exhibit your own Models, please contact Oliver Parr on 0118-9763375 or email enquiries@rememuseum.org.uk
  13. The other dog was called Hitler. The dog called Rommel was killed in Dec 1944 - anyone know how he died?
  14. As far as I am aware, T handles are British made and D shovels are American or Canadian.
  15. In Sept 1968 I started my first job in an office and got £8 per week.
  16. Post 1947, when this numbering system came in, started BA for the Army. Vehicles already in service were numbered from the end of the alphabet. For example, my 1944 Ford WOA2 has the serial M4956508 and also the 1947 reg of 79YG18 as it was still in service until the 1950s.
  17. Everybody in my family had a flu vacination except me. Everyone in my family has come down with the winter flu bug except me. Co-incidence???
  18. When I want out to walk the Dog on Friday evening, I saw 2 cars with snow chains, on the correct wheels, but doing 30mph and making quite a racket. I dread to think what damage they were doing to their cars and the road.
  19. I know it's an AA mount from early in the war and it has a specific name, but I can't remember it.
  20. Worked as a Computer Operator at Courage Brewery before going to Vodafone to look after Datacentres for 19 years. Took early retirement in 2007 and I'm now a Volunteer one day a week at the REME Museum, Arborfield.
  21. We have only have a light dusting of Snow overnight in Reading, but I got woken up at 4am by my Jack Russel Dog who wanted to go out and investigate it.
  22. Rear light illustration. Hope it is of some use. Part numbers are Ford UK, and not Official War Office numbers, which is MT3/WD/T1 for the unit.
  23. Agreed. I've got to do some work on my vehicle, but I also want to take 'snowy' pictures for my next Christmas card. Don't want to start the work and miss the photo oportunity.
  24. The light you are looking for is the same as I have on my Ford WOT2. It is a rear light with a red plastic lens in a metal case that screws on. I will find a photo and put on here. It is the wartime version as post-war they have a window added for a number plate. They do crop up at shows and autojumbles, so just keep looking.
  25. For those of us of a certain age.... "Can you hear me, Mother?" For those of you of a younger age group, look up Sandy Powell on Google.
