  1. Fantastic, many thanks for this as it is a photo I've not seen before. Any more, please? PS. It's a Ford WOA2
  2. I have seen photos of the Commander, Piron, in a Ford WOA2 when they entered Brussels. Wonder if I could recreate that one day with my WOA2?
  3. I heard that the way the Hussars know when they have had a good celebration is when they find Motorcycle tyre marks on the dinner table afterwards......
  4. Just had a late Christmas Present - salt and pepper shakers shaped like hand grenades! Will be useful at W&P next time.
  5. A pair of BD Trousers, 2 jumpers, loads of wine and Italian biscuits! Also a replacement Cat for the one I had to have put down last week.
  6. What model Ford WOT2 do you have, what parts do you need and where are do you live?
  7. No, according to the illustrations in the Ford Drivers handbook, the tyre gauge looks like a normal style one, not the shorter one. It also comes in a plastic or leather case (I can't tell from the drawing). The search for a complete tool kit continues..... Thanks for the photo.
  8. I was looking at dating a tyre gauge when I found this website. It gives the Patent numbers by year, so you can date items by the issuing of a patent number. I can now date my tyre gauge as post 1954. I was hoping it was wartime....... http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/patent/p-about/p-whatis/p-oldnumbers/p-oldnumbers-1916.htm
  9. Does anyone in the area know what takeaway food places are available and is there anywhere local to get petrol at a reasonable price? Also, where is the nearest supermarket? I know it's months away but I am just forward planning. Alternative for petrol - is there anywhere just off the M20 to get cheap petrol on the way down?
  10. I live in Reading - you can have the Reading Beer Festival if you take the Reading Gay Pride and West Reading Festival as well...
  11. Just had a look at the entry form and IMPS members like me still get in free, just like the old W&P show

    Snow 2012

Had a light dusting of snow in Reading this morning, but it's all gone now.
  13. Just one question - Will IMPS members still get free entry?
  14. I've been to the Battle of Britain museum. A lot there, but it is Not friendly and I will not be returning. No cameras, no mobile phones, no children on their own, and they will not allow entrance if you need to keep a mobile on you. Shop's a bit pricey as well. Brenzett is much more friendly and worth a visit. I have no connection with either museum.
  15. Yes, thinking about it my WOT2 chassis number is on a vertical surface,on the chassis just under the passenger door, but my WOA2 is stamped on the upper surface of the chassis in the engine bay (and also at the rear). I have heard that GKN made some chassis for Ford in WW2 although I have seen a film of chassis production at Dagenham. Different manufacturers doing their own thing??
  16. The chassis number on a WOT6 is stamped on the top of the near-side chassis side member just in front of the shock absorber bracket (info from 1942 drivers handbook). From experience of other Ford chassis numbers, it won't be clearly stamped. It should start and end with a Star and the number contains the model code at the start of the number with the actual chassis number at the end.
  17. Could someone involved with the restoration get in contact with me please. as I would like to write a bit for the Ford V8 club magazine (it has a Ford V8 engine). Also, could I use the photo that DesertBlooms88 posted here? Please PM me and I will give you an email address. Many thanks. Robert Davey
  18. You want the black LARGE First-Aid tin for an Austin Champ as it fits the holder above the gearbox. The small first-aid kit won't fit. I remember this from owning a Champ many years ago!!

    Grandad

Congratulations! Another Grandad in the HMVF. PS. Wanna buy my Jeep Buggy?
  20. I agree with Pete on this. I painted my WOT2 with Matt paint on primer and I am getting rust spotting, so I will have to repaint it. On my WOA2 I have painted this Gloss (Smooth Black Hammerite) over primer before spraying it Matt and this has given a much more rust resistant finish. Matt paint is soft, scratches easily and soaks up oil/grease like a spong. However, Matt paint with a few hand marks looks very period and 'in service'.
  21. I have found a bit in the 'Manual of Driving and Maintenance for Mechanical Vehicles (Wheeled) dated 1937, reprinted 1940'. It states in Section 18 part 3 :- "Anti-freezing solutiuons will NOT be used except when authorized specially for any particular theatre of operations, in which case instructions for their use will be strictly observed." The Manual also tells you to fill the radiator with Hot Water for starting on cold days. This qusetion of these markings has intrigued me and I will continue looking.
  22. Just heard on the News, 4th Nov, that there has been Snow in Dorset today, some around Dorchester and Yeovil. Could Jack gives us an update on this?
  23. What model WOT and what are you looking for? Robert
  24. Andy Robertshaw is giving a talk at a Book Fair at the RLC Museum at Deepcut, Camberley on Saturday 3rd November. A good speaker and a very likable chap.
