  1. It's an Austin K5 also known as a 'Screamer'. Anyone on here own it?
  2. I remember the Mustard Gas shells being found, as it closed the main A33 when the shells were being moved. Suggest the Basingstoke Gazette for details. The shells were found when Bramley Ammunition depot was being decommisioned. I believe the Gas Shells were WW1 vintage and were buried after the war to get rid of them.
  3. I have discovered that a WW2 British Ford WOT2 has a reel of Friction Tape in its tool kit, identical to the reel in a Jeep (Part numbers are different, but that is all). I now have to make up a British cardboard box for it. Does anyone in the Jeep circles know of a download from the Internet for a box that I print on card and use?
  4. Didn't one of these post-war made Panthers turn up in a scrap yard in England in the 1980s and get shipped to Germany for restoration? I seem to remember something in an 'After the Battle' magazine about it.
  5. Saw this on the BBC News website. Most seems to be beltring. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-22246458
  6. Just passed a petrol station with 130.9 a litre. The local Sainsburys superstore is having a 'spend £60 and get 10p off a litre' weekend this weekend. They are currently 133.9. Thanks for the warnings about Blandford. I will be in Weymouth again in June, so I will shop around.
  7. I had the same problem with my WOT2. DVLA said to use the Post Office, which I did, and they taxed it for me. The reminder had 'MoT required' and also 'Pre 1960 No MoT required' written on it!! DVLA said it was because the MoT was still valid - it had 2 weeks more to run. Tip seems to be, use a Post Officee and take your Log Book with the date of Manufacture on it with you.
  8. I have seen in the news that Petrol is reducing in price. Cheapest I have seen so far is 131.7 at a local supermarket in Reading. Question is, when is it going to get below 130 a litre? First one to reply with a sighting of 129.9 a litre or less wins my thanks. Also, I noticed this recently on a holiday. On the same day, Petrol was cheapest in Swanscombe,North Kent (132.9 at Esso), followed by Reading (134.7 at Asda) but Dorset prices are highest (138.9 at Tesco,Blandford)!! Jack, can you help with any reason?
  9. Try Beaulieu Spring Autojumble on Saturday 18th May.
  10. Any leads as to where I can find out more details about the original robbery the film was based on?
  11. Thanks Pete. That's just what I wanted to know.
  12. Just doing a bit of research, and I need help with 2 questions :- 1. When did Ford stop making Jeep Bodies and go over to the Willys style body? 2. Where is the body number stamped on a Ford Jeep body? Many thanks.
  13. Yes, they do, but they are a bit general and don't have much detail. Contact the Museum and they can check for you. Details on their website http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/default.aspx and contact is mike.sibbons@rememuseum.org.uk
  14. Nobody's nentioned the REME Museum at Arborfield. Shows the history of the REME and has REME Vehicles on display in the vehicle hall. Photography is allowed and the cafe must be good as serving soldiers use it for lunch.
  15. Question for you all. How many of us started building Airfix models and then just upscaled it to full size? I know that is how I started.
  16. I believe the 53 station includes a 19 set, but I will have a look around and get back to you. Have you tried the 19 set group? They have a web site http://www.royalsignals.org.uk/ which could be of use to you. Robert
  17. James There is a 53 set and a 53 Station. They are very different and I have seen a 53 Station in a QLR not too long ago. Robert Davey
  18. Could you define 'Non-British make'? My vehicles are Ford, which is American, but made in Dagenham. Also Bedfords are General Motors, which is also American.
  19. I know of one that won't insure anybody under 30.
  20. It's snowing in Reading at the moment. Still it gives me an opertunity to take the snowey photos for my next Christmas cards!!!
  21. I just had a look at the Weather charts and my Guess is for cold and wet weather over Easter. I will check again next week, but it doesn't look good. I think a Great Coat and a warm drink at my show over Easter at Mapledurham.
  22. Hope this weather picks up. I'm off to a show a week tomorrow, standing around in the cold and wet all day is not good.
  23. Does anyone know of any Car Boot sales or Antique fairs in the Dorset area over the weekend of 6-7 April? I'm on holiday in Warmwell near Weymouth from Friday 5th til Friday 12th April and wondered if there was anywhere I could go to pick up a 'Bargain'. Many thanks Gentlemen. Robert Davey
  24. Agreed. They were Beach Group and the band is White, and some were recruted from Royal Berks Regt soldiers. The white band was the easy identification for the D-Day beaches.
  25. If it is like my Ford special bolts, it means it has a drilled end for the split pin. The Slotted nut is the give-away.
