  1. David, They will fit on a trailer, they are about 500kg, so 2 on a trailer is still much less than a Land Rover. You obviously weren't aware you could bid on one lot OR another lot. Very useful when you don't want to end up with 6 FV432s! Chris
  2. David, Did you go and look at them, or just bid? Chris
  3. Val, Have you checked to see if there's still water in the cooling system?! Chris
  4. Hi there... you could be handy to have around! Chris

    Insurance

We have insured all our vehicles with Footman James, none were registered when we got them. Never been a problem!
  7. Al, You can buy back issues from the website, if it's this months magazine you can find it in WH Smiths. Chris
  8. Yep, it's 2 FV432s welded together with a Fox turret and drainpipe gun. http://www.tanks-alot.co.uk/tank_limo_hire.htm

  10. Clive, Googlemail will act as a front end for your existing email, just like a mail program such as Outlook. You can use googlemail to send email with your existing account, any mail which goes to your current address will go to your googlemail account, because it checks your mail for you, it downloads the messages then sorts the spam. Chris
  11. Yep I use gmail/googlemail and it's always been reliable, good spam filters too. They even have a Java application you can download and install on a mobile phone, so you can get your email everywhere. Chris
  12. Tyre paint is basically rubber, so it won't peel or flake. It will be slightly shiny when you first apply it, but it will matt down quickly. I've used it on all my tyres and it makes them look new again, also covers up any overspray etc. See photo of the Fox tyres a few weeks after painting them. Chris
  13. If you look at the dates of the posts, Tim joined in 2005!
  14. Tyre paint! http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/tyre-paint-1-litre-black/path/paints-brushes-decorating-tools
  15. Yep, they are Larkspur. You might struggle to find the tuner units. What age/preiod is the truck they're going on? Chris
  16. There are no side hatches, just top hatches. http://www.jedsite.info/afv-charlie/charlie/cvrw_series/vixen/vixen.html
  17. Snapper, Like Alien says it's a liason version of the Fox, much like a Mk 1 Ferret. The internal space was much larger as the 2 large external bins were omitted. It had 4 seats, driver, commander and 2 passengers. I have a good photo at home showing a Vixen and all the kit/crew which they managed to fit into it. Chris
  18. Nice to see the Vixen on display rather than a back shed, they really shouldn't have cancelled that project. Chris
  19. Yep, Clansman Crew Box 2 Set. £5 or so.
  20. Tim, I drove past MoD Chilwell today and there were about that many Atkinsons with 432s and HETs with Warriors parked up, probably the same ones! Chris
  21. Yes, they belong to the Irish guys. There are 2 of them on the Alvis Forum, who seem to like doing the CVRT Panzer thing. Chris
  22. Mike, I work for a company which does metal spraying in Lincoln if you get really stuck. Chris
  23. Don't believe the numbers on the decal sheets. The AFV club Scimitar has the reg number for a Spartan. I own that RAF Spartan. All the RAF registered CVRTs were passed to the Army at one stage or another. I was told they were ordered as replacements for the vehicles lost at sea on the way to the Falklands. As for the RAF using Army vehicles, I've never seen a photo but that doesn't mean they didn't. Incidently, the Spartan, like our other vehicles, does get washed regularly. A combination of car shampoo, hose or pressure washer and ocassionally a crow bar to get the big lumps of mud out the tracks. The last thing you want is a lump of rock hard mud flying off at 40mph and hitting a car/person/horse/house. Chris
