  1. Nice one Phil, I look forward to seeing some photos of it's restoration. Chris
  2. What a nice shed you have! I don't know if these have been cut up yet, but I can give you a phone number if you want? Chris
  3. There are 2 types of drivers screens for the Rapier, one large window for travelling, and one with 3 smaller windows for combat. Either way everyone seems to drive them with the door open! Chris
  4. There's still one here Jack! http://www.warandpeaceshow.co.uk/component/option,com_marketplace/Itemid,88888973/adid,91/catid,12/page,show_ad/ Chris
  5. Difficult to say what it's worth, do you know the asking price? Chris
  6. Looks like a trailing arm, wheel hub goes on one end, other end connects to the torsion bar. 9ACR is the code for FV430 parts. Chris
  7. There are a number of Tracked Rapiers around, Dave P on this form has (had?) one which was for sale, and was a good runner. There were some at Jacksons, but they have since been cut up. I agree it does look pretty complete inside, more so than some of the others I've looked in. It's definitley worth saving, but I guess it depends on price! There is a guy quite local to me who has one he bought fairly recently, I don't have any contact details for him, but he seems to be enjoying it. Chris
  8. The 432 is a Mk 1, so unlikely it would have been converted to a radar carrier as they were withdrawn from service a long time ago. Infact it looks like it might have the Peak Engineering turret on the top. Chris
  9. The near vehicle is an FV432 Mk 1, the far vehicle is a Tracked Rapier. The internal shots are from the Rapier. They're worth about £10,000 in nice condition. The problem is they are based on the M113 (actually M548, but same running gear) so getting hold of bits in the UK is a bit of a challenge. Anthing else interesting up there? Chris
  10. When I did my Lightweight I took the rear tub off as it makes the job easier. I also sprayed inside the new cross member and the rest of the chassis with Hammerite before welding the new section on and then painted the welds afterwards. Chris
  11. You should be ok, anything exotic and dangerous will probably have left after the run to Beltring! You will be surprised at the handy spanner inside the cover, perfectly placed on a cord just long enough to reach all the filter bolts! Chris
  12. No tea cakes I'm afraid, but we did have marshmallows and sparklers!
  13. Have you checked the NBC pack? We had some large and interesting insects in there on ours! Chris
  14. Lots of Saracens were converted to Reverse Flow Cooling, and they were used like that in Northern Ireland, aswell as Germany. You can spot an RFC Saracen as they have the larger beehive chimney pot engine deck covers aswell as the front apron. Chris
  15. That's more like it, although that's not me standing by the pole, that's my friend Mark!
  16. Try a local plant hire company, I used one to move my Sabre and they did a good job.

Can you give details of the scrap dealer, and anything they might have in the yard? Chris
  18. And the Badger stencilled on the front and rear indicate it was used by B Squadron, so it's all a bit of a mess, but it was used by 2RTR as I have paperwork that was left inside. Chris
  19. Any good photos of my Sabre knocking around?
  20. £8000 includes a new set of track pads, get him to throw some wheels and CES in and I think it's a good deal. Powerpacks and steering boxes are easy to source. It still has the smoke dischargers fitted, and is road registered, so I don't think you can't go too far wrong. Chris
  21. It definitley looks well used, but I think you'd be surprised how much better it will look with a pressure wash and a clean out with a wet vacuum cleaner. All of these vehicles are full of oily water, I had a 432 which took the best part of a day to drain out. It depends if you are looking for a project, or one which has already been done. I think I'd want to see it running and the crane working before purchase though. Chris
  22. It's upside down where ever it is!
  23. Here's a bit more of the story.. http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/lsm/dhmg/andjef5.html Chris
  24. This is interesting, I used to have a 24A belonging to 2RTR and it was called Casino. Chris
