  1. There were several in a scrap yard over there, I think they went over as deck cargo on ships in the 60s.
  2. Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum. What kind of paperwork can you get? Chris
  3. Clive, 277261 has been replaced by STC1141, but they are £35+Vat from Craddocks! Part Number : STC1141 FUEL FILLER TUBE ASSY 1958-84 Chris
  4. Clive, The filler tube looks like the one on my Lightweight, and not too different to the one on the Wolf. I expect it's a standard part. Chris
  5. Mark, Mine was also 1980, I didn't get any release paperwork with mine so had to get a letter with the date in service, which was 1980. Since yours was made around the same time I would expect yours to be 1980 too. Chris
  6. Mark, Join the EMLRA (http://www.emlra.org) and then get a history search done on 21HF02, this will tell you which units your vehicle was used with. I have 20HF93, which is 11 away from yours! See attachment for what you get back from the EMLRA. Chris History - 20 HF 93.pdf
  7. £162000 seems like a lot of money, but how much is a top of the line Range Rover, Ferrari or a Bentley? Enough people buy these cars to make it worthwhile making them, so there are people with that kind of money to spend out there. (Or at least there used to be untill recently!)
  8. They have so much stock they can't list every single item. Something like the Pig is a one off, which is why they put no effort into selling it and stuck it in the tender sale. They'd rather spend the time selling Bedfords in 50s or 100s or selling some plant for £35000.
  9. They don't list much of the stock on the website.
  10. Matt, There was a different generator panel for the single speed, but it was never fitted to Ferrets. I think it would be easier to put the system back to how it was intended, replace the single speed generator with the 2 speed. I'd have a look inside first and make sure it's all ok, otherwise see if you can get a specialist to look at it. You can get the 2 speed generators and panels quite easily if you need replacements. Chris
  11. Duncan, that's a sky blue engine, although the paint is faded. Lee, could it be that the engines were dyno tested with a specific set of ancillaries, which were then removed and put on the next engine? The J60 EMERs have a section on dyno testing where the length of time at certain loads is specified. My reconditioned J60 (done in 1997 I think by a place in Grantham) started and ran straight out the box. Sounds like that B80 was a bit of a lemon?
  12. 24V chargers are expensive, I wouldn't bother. The best thing you can do is not let the batteries go flat. Remove a lead when not in use, or fit a cut off switch.
  13. The equipment on the back of that Dodge looks very different to the tanker on the MW.
  14. Hi Matt, Which generator and panel do you have fitted? It sounds like you have a single speed generator connected to a 2 speed panel? Chris
  15. Hi Ben... You already know me and my Sabre. Chris
  16. Page 82 of the manual says: "The nuts securing the wheels on the LH side of the vehicle have LH threads and those on the RH side have RH threads."
  17. If you can't get the wheels off, are you sure you're turning the wheel brace the right direction? LH side has LH thread, RH side has RH thread! Chris
  18. I don't know why some people can't just enjoy a vehicle for what it is, rather than bolting on all this inaccurate junk!
  19. If they had good logistics, they would have had the fuel!
  20. Hello Alastair, I work at Sermatech in Lincoln. Most of the parts of your engines go through our factory! Keep digging in the Jungle, you never know what ww2 armour you might find out there. Chris
  21. Yes it was Paul Thompson who had the Mk 5, not seen it since it was on milweb. It sounds like there aren't going to be any others turning up any time soon. Richard, do you know which ranges they went on? Not that there would be anything left now! Chris
  22. According to Pat Ware's book there were 32 Mk 5 Ferrets built. I know there is one at the Tank Museum, and one at B&E Boyes. There was one on the show circuit a few years ago which was then on milweb. Where are the rest? Anyone seen one in a museum, at a show, on the ranges or anywhere else? Chris
  23. Jay Leno also has a Mk 1 Ferret.
  24. Cent Barv was in use up to late 2003, it would have had Clansman installed for 20 years or so before disposal.
